The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, on Monday alerted of potential cyber-attacks this year, as it handed precautionary measures that should be taken by ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, other government establishments, the private sector and the general public.

It disclosed that its Computer Emergency Readiness and Response Team, CERRT, in collaboration with other industry stakeholders have intercepted some signals of potential cyber-attacks targeting banking, health and other systems, power and transportation systems, as well as other critical national infrastructure.

While harping on the need for all to be vigilant and proactive, NITDA in a statement issued by its DG, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, recommended the following precautionary measures:

– efforts should be intensified at ensuring that any data is encrypted, particularly any sensitive or personal data;
