NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS (NAUS)
Association nationale des etudiants des Universities
Motto: Justice, Peace and Academic Excellence

PRESS RELEASE

Silence does us less good in the ongoing industrial action by the following Associations; SSANU, NASU & NAAT(JAC) which has not only crippled activities of much importance to university students but has also made a mark on the lingering problems in Nigeria's educational system.

NAUS expresses great concern about students who are denied access to library facilities during this period at a time we are still in pain of libraries' condition across our universities;
Students being denied school medical services at a time medical services are not satisfactory in our public hospitals;
Students suffering lack of administrative attention at a time administrative inefficiency is still a menace of national concern and other challenges faced as a result of this avoidable action. The gross effect of these is that, our students will continue to contribute to global problems rather than solving them.

To this effect, we reiterate our commitment towards holding our proposed peaceful demonstration scheduled for 8th February, 2018 at the Eagle Square, Abuja if the strike is not called off. This is to show our deep concern and put the parties involve on their toes in resolving matters between them. There is need to put an end to incessant industrial actions by various Unions piloting our educational system and this requires cooperation from concern students' Unions.

In conclusion, necessary consultations by the Association are ongoing to call the strike.
The National Association of University Students (NAUS) under the able leadership of Comrade Kasimu Abdullahi Idrisu remains resolute in discharging her mandate of providing better learning atmosphere for all university students in the country.
