Six Chinese arrested over forgery of immigration documents

Nemesis has caught up with a Chinese syndicate, which specialises in forging immigration documents, as six of them have been nabbed by Nigerian immigration officials.

The lid was blown on their criminal act when the arrowhead simply known as Mr. Hu, a staff of Archer International (Nigeria) Limited, located in China Town Ojota, was nabbed on Tuesday in his office for forging immigration documents.

Some passports belonging to Chinese people were recovered from him, as well as receipts, stamps and other forged security documents.

The culprit, it was gathered, issued reentry visas and extends visiting visas for his fellow Chinese countrymen at a fee ranging from N20,000 to N75,000 depending on the type of service needed.

When arrested, Hu was said to have made phone calls to his boss in Beijing, China and Samuel Eluwa, an Assistant Comptroller-General of Immigration (ACGI) and Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone A, Ikeja.

After the calls, he was said to have refused to make any statement perhaps based on advice from unknown quarters.

He and his accomplices were said to have been taken to the Federal Screening Centre, Alagbon, Ikoyi, where they were detained.

Investigations, however, showed that Eluwa has demanded that the matter be transferred to his office.

The immigration boss, after thorough examination of the matter, was said to have given a go-ahead to his men to deport the affected Chinese.

He also ordered that their passports be seized for now but some other accomplices, who discovered that the game was up, were said to be on the run while the hunt for them continues.

China, as a country, has one of the strictest laws against criminal activities in the world. The Asian giant is in the habit of executing perpetrators of crimes, no matter how small, an action that has often time drawn condemnation across the world.

And because of the seemingly enterprising nature of the Chinese and their scientific and architectural knowledge, they enjoy a significant level of freedom in Nigeria, the giant of Africa, known for its friendliness to expatriates around the world despite the indignity and humiliation that Nigerians get in return overseas.

This is one thing that get me mad, that Nigerians abroad do not receive 1% of the hospitality and frendliness we show to foreigner down there in Nigeria. Am sure if a Nigerian commited such offense in china, first it will make all their dailies, 2-5years on awaiting trial and 20years imprisonment.

straight deportation is a softer option.he will come back with another passport.the immigration boss is his friend and it seems there is a cover-up

Fellow Nigerians are sacked and replaced with cheap indian, Egyptians Banglideshi etc. We know someone in the Nigerian Immigration services has an 'outsource contract' to protect these peolpe. We need to do something about it
