Flexherbal: He is speaking the truth. We like to form in Nigeria, we like titles such as Manager, CEO, Chief and so on but by the time you're paid at the end of the month and you buy fuel, diesel, pay for security and other things that the government is supposed to provide for you as a citizen, you'll understand that the average security guard in America or UK is living a better life than the titled men here. 3 Likes |

Do you pay tax? plus other deductions At the end of the day , N500k is nothing when converted to pounds.. I will never advice a graduate earning good pay to leave Naija and move abroad to be A CLEANER OR A SECURITY GUARD...WTF 4 Likes |

GLOBALINF: I must commend your bold step to come back and invest..Not everyone is mentally lazy as you wrongly put it, Nigerians are talented people but the means, facilities, and avenues are not there. For instance, I want to start a business and there is no fund to do that..I have the idea but the means is not there. Would you tag me as been mentally lazy? You can share your business ideas with people so that they can tap into it.. |

Chevronstaff: Tell me what I don't know.. I'm talking about after tax and even after all expenses for a frugal hard worker.. Feeding for the month £150 Accommodation £300 travel card £85 bus only one month Misc £50 Tax about 30% meaning if he earns £1800 he will be left with about £1500 and about £800 in savings a month meaning about N400k savings... with quality life style only the rich can have in naija. That is just a hard working cleaner but for other better jobs you could be earning way over £3k a month. I believe Nigeria will be great again and as a budding politician I desire to be part of the Joshua movement so let's pray for the country to be great again.. #makenigeriagreatagain 2 Likes |

nwakibie3:Bro to be honest it is not easy as many countries are seriously reviewing their immigration laws to make it harder for migrants to come in. Not only Trump is serious with it only that he makes noise about it especially with his shiithole comments many countries are hard on immigration. The best would ve been to fix the country but sadly it remains a dream |

MIKOLOWISKA: Good analysis, but not everyone see things from your point of view..Many talents are wasting in Nigeria that should have been tapped..Why do you think the best don't want to remain in Nigeria? GLOBALINF: I will tell you to shush without second guessing... Nigeria is a failed system and I'm talking from experience... At 26 I was a millionaire talking about 2001 and I gave people's life a meaning and helping people with hundreds of thousands until I had a terrible accident that catapulted me to square 0 as a result of the crazy health system that could not tend to me on a timely note and I had a nerve damage..what a country where human lives mean nothing compared to a country where firemen are called to save the life of a cat. What am I driving at? you wrote that you left naija to go hustle abroad, made good money then came back to invest then you went ahead cursing the same white man country that gave you the opportunity to make money for your investment. Do you think you are better than the average graduate in Nigeria with fantastic idea? why did you not raise that capital in Nigeria? Don't get it twisted. .people make it from the scratch in Naija but very very few. Nigeria is a country that will not do anything for you, will not make you useful for her and make you redundant to help yourself. You think I envy most of these rich artists and billionaires cultists? Nigeria is a failed nation and we all need to pray for the country. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Naija is a shithole yet people esp foreign institutional investors made between 75%-150% ROI playing with funds in the debt and capital market alone. I know this because I manage such funds for them I was also abroad had a very good white collar job (earning 70K plus) but woke up one morning and decided to come back home and I don't regret it. I live in my own house in a serviced estate in a very serene part of Lagos state, have a lucrative side hustle and I thank God for what I have achieved so far a lot of which I wouldn't have achieved if I was still abroad. I feel for Femi O because I have been in his shoes before and he sounds really pained probably because his contemporaries that he left in Nigeria are not doing bad (Saheed Balogun et.al) More so he wont be a security guard for the rest of his life and its very difficult to save considering that he has three kids to feed. I belong to a semi formal think tank of professionals from different sectors in the country and we met recently to discuss 2017 events in retrospect and one thing dawned on me which is that there is no sector or business in Nigeria that does not have new or existing growth potential. Literally every sector still has opportunity for growth be it upstream oil and gas, automobile, retail and even real estate. However how difficult the barriers to entry is, there is still room for growth. I give you an example Dangote is building the largest refinery in Africa, I can bet you that such an investment decision will be dead on arrival in place like America, UK or any of the developed nations around. On the flip side our country and economy is still developing so there is room for growth and we also have the advantage of a youthful and growing population. My barber makes an average of 10k daily cutting hair @ 300naira per person and this is excluding house calls and also sells hair treatment products and other accessories. He reminds me every month to sharpen the blade of my personal clipper which cost me 500 naira. He also does some entertainment stuff by the side like downloading movies and songs and selling to people at 50naira per download. He has a small portion of his shop where people can come and sit and charge their phones at 50 naira per charge. I use him as an example because I know when and how he started and I thank of that I was part of his growth story. We are quick to blame our leaders when in the real sense we should also take a large portion of the blame. One for sure, we are not honest in any way. I have done cross borders deals with people over the phone without meeting face to face and the other parties have kept to their own part of the bargain but in Nigeria even with an iron clad agreement and all sorts of default covenants Nigerians will still look for one way or the other to renegage on the agreement and some will even do all sorts of unprintable stuff to default on the agreement. There is dignity in labour but if we ask the same Mr Femi to come and run a security outfit in Nigeria (a sector that is very lucrative by the way) he will say God forbid..........I am a movie producer bla bla! For me I think our inferiority complex, mentality about religion has contributed to the state of our nation. Here Pastors will speak prophesy into people's lives telling them that and I quote "by this time next week you will be the MD of your own company bla bla" and the person who does not even have the capacity to run a small team will begin to have grand and distorted illusions. I know of someone that started exportation business (exporting hibiscus flowers)) to Mexico with just 750k and today the guy has a confirmed profroma to export over 120k USD of hibiscus flower to the US and he even got 30% upfront payment from the buyer guaranteed by his bank in case he fails to perform and guess what he got the contact to do the first shipment from an online forum and the rest as we say is history I know we have our issues and to be honest I don't think that seemingly simple things like light, water, good roads should be an issue but hey even these simple necessities come at a cost abroad. I remember I was paying about 50-150 dollars for light alone and about 100 dollars for water back in the day. Now tell me how many people do that in Nigeria, the Discos tried to increase tariff so they can pay and improve power generation we all kicked against it. even to pay 3k bill is an issue for those that can afford. the same Nigerian will collect post paid electricity meters and still go ahead and bypass wires so they can enjoy free light and then lets not even talk about taxes esp from small business owners. I also think that we need to recalibrate our educational curriculum and teach people to be more vocational and entrepreneurial instead of going through the four walls of a school to come and start looking for jobs. One thing I know for sure is yes we have our plethora of issues but Nigeria will be great again. I mean the chinese, lebanese, indians and others are coming here in droves and making millions so why cant we do same in our own country? Despite the so called recession, Shoprite revenue in Nigeria increased by 57% dwarfing sales from the rest of Africa combined in 2017 alone! I think I have said enough and yeah..................God bless Nigeria! 3 Likes |
