1. Verify the number plates and check whether the car is a stolen car from Police.

2. Verify that custom papers and check whether duty was paid on the vehicle from Customs.

3. Go with your mechanic to inspect the engine of the car thoroughly to verify if there’s any engine fault or gear issues.

4. You can also go with an autoeletrician (rewire) to check if the car has any electrical faults.

5. Verify the papers to make sure everything is intact.

Verify from police before paying for the car. You can just visit SARS headquarters in your locality and they will give you more info. For Lagos. It’s in Ikeja.

its not a small problem especialy when it was badly done, like in my case. in my case i have to visit the Mechanic at least every three or two months to tighten bolts, without which the car can go out of control due to frequently occuring gap in the steering

As far as I know it's really important to check whether this car salvage or damaged in some way. I ordered a car from accident ones and now trying to check everythin before buying.
