Yes, I do very much understand the dilemma. The P11E-144 that's the subject here and its successor the P12 use CVT model RE0F06A. It's the earliest of Nissan's CVTs and not as sophisticated as its successors as you have in the Murano from 2003 (RE0F09A, etc). Whereas in the later CVT series Nissan would always warn (scare?) that it's NS-2 or NS-3 as the case may be or nothing else, but for RE0F06A it is stated "Genuine NISSAN CVT fluid (NS-1) or exact equivalent." So there's room for substitution. For this I have found Mannol's CVT Variator Fluid. It's made in Germany, and they state it's compatible with both NS-1 and NS-2 CVT requirements.

My friend is already thinking of changing the transmission because it's already showing signs of failure but I assured him there will be solution after I come online. What signs of failure? Why not scan transmission. It may be more than just transmission oil. Stepper motor/ primary speed sensor codes seem to be common in that particular model. In that instance, a replacement of defective part should work, rather than replacing the whole gearbox.

On the subject of other options, the one I reserve for "when push comes to shove" is called 'ravenol'. Made in USA. Although I've not used it yet, but a lot of reviews claim it works.

Thanks. He told me sometimes when on drive or reverse the transmission refused to transmit. The car refused to move despite that the the transmission is engaged and engine accelerated. But the problem is there are no experts that can scan the transmission herein our area, Ilaro Ogun State. The first visible problem is the very dark transmission oil. So I think changing it is first point in action.
