The truth is a wallet system will be created by Whatsapp for your banking transactions, and of course people would eventually move some amount of their monies to the Whatsapp wallet to facilitate quick transactions. When monies are moved to wallets, its an
electronic thing, and the values move easily. A mobile wallet is like your personal mini bank just like ur purse or pocket wallet. Inter and intra bank transactions fees would still apply, but bank deposits will reduce.
Also, the varying payments platforms in Nigeria that provides VTU and other pay services like Nepa,Dstv and GOTV services should brace up as these might eventually be brought into Whatsapp payment platform as well.

And how will money get into the wallet system without the banking system involved and collecting their charges ?

Do u know how many mobile wallet systems existed today and there is no single threat to banks ?

Watzapp will use mobile number that Flash Me Cash, 909 etc have already used and are almost abandoning to use 10 digit Tier 1 account numbers.

Banks even have ussd where u dnt need data to do ur transactions how much more watz app that need data.
