One can recall last year, the Mgbuosimini Community in Rumueme, Port Harcourt was in the news. Beginning with the killing of Chief Minikwu and the reprisal attack of burning down of properties, the community has never been the same. As if that was not enough, about 26 people including a nursing mother were murdered in cold blood. This attracted the unscheduled visit of the state Governor, Barr. Wike.
Again this afternoon, there was fire outbreak in one of the compounds in the community. The story goes that fire sparked from an electric socket. This spread to the fully packed bedroom. If not for the intervention of other residents, the big compound that houses more than 100 residents would have been completely burnt down and property worth millions of Naira destroyed. To God's glory, only one building was partly burnt with some property destroyed.
A family of 12 is now rendered homeless because of this.
