Dagrin For Burial Friday

The late Nigeria’s fast rising rap music star Olaitan Oladapo Olaonipekun famously known as Dagrin will be laid to rest this Friday.

According to the funeral arrangements released by the family yesterday, a 3-day funeral rite has been scheduled to give the indigenous rapper a befitting burial.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the rite will start with a public memorial candle light procession planned for Thursday 29 April. The procession scheduled for 7.30p.m will commence from Dagrin’s former residence, 1, Emmanuel Dada Street, off Bello Road, Surulere and terminate at O’Jez Restaurant, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

On Friday, 30 April, his remains will be interred at Atan Cemetery (Ebony Private Vault) Yaba, Lagos at 12p.m.

There will be a visitation to Dagrin’s family house at 43, Kola Oretuga, off Meiran Road, Iyana Meiran Bus stop, Ijaye, Ojokoro, Lagos on Sunday 2 May by 12p.m.

Dagrin passed on at 6:00pm Thursday 22 April, 2010, exactly eight days after he was involved in a ghastly auto accident in Mushin, Lagos on 15 April, 2010. He sustained a serious head injury, as a result of the crash.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the late rap star was initially admitted at Tai Solarin Hospital, Mushin before he was transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi Araba where Doctors trie to save his life.

Unconscious for those days, he was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit where he was operated upon, and later moved to the private wing of the hospital where he was pronounced dead last Thursday evening.

Born 26 years ago, Dagrin shot to the limelight after the release of his second album, Chief Executive Omoita,CEO. On Tuesday, 6 April 2010, he bagged several nominations including Album of The Year, Artiste of The Year and Best Rap Album at the forthcoming Hip-Hop World Awards scheduled for 29 May.
