Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I need your advice and inputs. I just got a call from my friend telling me he wants me to be the master of ceremony(MC) at his wedding next week. This will be my first for a wedding and I'm quite confused on how I should play.
So I need urgent suggestions on how to go about it. Please MCs in the house help a brother out..
I'm doing this for him FOC. Thanks.

Help move this to FP. Thanks.

shocked

MCing is no child's play.
There's actually no clear-cut rule to it.
I'm just concerned that anyone will entrust such a supposed important occasion into the hands of a total rookie.

As a fresher....you are bound to encounter problems with stage-fright and content fluidity.
But you can't afford to turn your friend down neither can you afford to let this big opportunity slip.

A little tipsiness will help.
Don't be too sober or too drunk.
Wear a loud coloured cloth or a weird shoe; just a little something that will make you stand out.

Since it's a wedding.
Talk about the mystery of womanhood.
It is an all-time ever interesting subject.

Better still, talk about all the flaws of your best friend's wife
Talk about your friend's secret exploits,
Talk about the coming of two imperfect beings to an imperfect union.
Just open your mouth and let the truth spill.

Even if you don't steal the show, you'd have told the truth.
It's not your fault if their marriage is short-lived afterwards. After all, a person who really cared about the success of his marriage would have hired a professional.

Get some videos that people have anchored before and watch. You will learn from there.

Ask him to give the job to a professional, offer to support the payment of the MC if you can to avoid stories that touches the heart because people will blame you and not your friend if you should do a bad job.

Some people are funny sha, that was how my friend asked his aunt to help him prepare barbecue for his birthday instead of engaging the services of a professional and we ended up eating burnt offering as barbecue.

We all blamed the aunt and not my friend so ask your friend to engage a professional to avoid such treatment being metted out on you

First things first u have to remember to stay calm else ur nerves will wreck things for U and him... Its really no biggie if U're d sociable type because it would com naturally to U.... U don't have to b funny to make a gud MC, jus know wat to say and wen. Remember it isn't a debate so U dont have to look or sound too serious... Throw in a couple of jokes(preferably some funny experiences U guys have had) every now and den... Jus hold d mic and follow d order of d event. U'ld do jus fine...
NB: I take God beg U resist d temptation of getting high before u step onto d stage.. U dont want to b told wat u acted on stage

With adequate preparation, you will appear as a professional. Practice in front of a big mirror say things you will say that day in front of the mirror, watch some comedy videos of Akpororo and Bovi to get like 3 to 5 jokes then train ur self to take deep breath if you are tensed. Train urself to always smile too. Thank me after the wedding Bro. Don't forget to get a clean cut and be yourself

The current situation of the country has forcefully tuned everyone to an MC

The men are all trying to be like Lasisi, blogging and making comedy skits

And the Ladies keep using the filters and flower and be looking like wreath on a graveyard

Something must kill hungar, I guess!!!

MCing has to do with guts and the knowledge of what those around really wants. All in all, do your thing without feeling intimidated and wait to see yourself reaching stardom. Best of luck.
