HERITAGE
In time take time while time doth last
Those times we had long past the sands of time
Our stopped wall clock once told the history in green
The swinging pendulum telling how long time has passed

We were there in those times
When we lit our firewood with molten stones
We tied our gele around our waist dancing at the village square
When Okonkwo decided to save his shillings from the sales of his father’s land

We were there in those times
When we could tell the times from the rising of the sun
Played around the trees with different pair of slippers
We then tune our TV stations by 4 and chorused our National Anthem

We were there in those times
When we were taught with faded chalks on a charcoal board
When our right hand could touch our left ear before we could get into school
Wandered through the bushes looking for Cashew nuts and bush meats

We were there in those times
When we gained independence
With our unity in diversity and cultural naturalization
Wearing green white green

We were there in those times
When we could mould basket from canes in North
When we could fry our groundnuts with firewood and sand in the South
Lit our lanterns with coals from Enugu

We were there in those times
When Nigeria won the Africa Nations Cup in 1980 and 1994
When we had Gold in football at the Olympics in 1996
And played our first World Cup in 1994

We were there in those times
When we rode our rickety bicycles from Edo to Ondo
When we rode our wooden canoes from kwara to Kogi
And had our first Car ride from Lagos to Ibadan
In those times
You had wondered where we were
We were where we were
We are xxxxxxxx
Our times can tell
The timeless xxxxxx xxxxxxx….
