Cars are not disposable items and many of them can actually take you above 320,000 Kilometers. However, some will only cover such mileage after you must have spent a fortune on them.

So Consumer Reports decided to do survey on the safe and reliable cars you can drive the longest.

Here are the 10 cars, SUVs, minivans, and pickup trucks that Consumer Reports' survey respondents reported have reached more than 320,000 km (approx. 200,000 miles), ranked by the percentage of those with zero claimed problems in the past 12 months.

Toyota Prius
Honda CR-V
Toyota Sienna
Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
Toyota 4Runner
Toyota Highlander
Ford F-150


6 out of the 10 cars are Toyotas. Now, it seems we Nigerians like to play safe with cars.

Note: The study was carried out on older models like the popular ones on our Nigerian roads. However, the newer models also have good reliability ratings.

Once properly maintained any Toyota vehicle can easily reach 500000km on its factory fitted engine

what about benz w124 300e aka vboot (the six cylinder own) and the benz w210 e320 aka opolo eyes. my dad used the life of that vboot for trips 4rm lagos to abuja and its still going strong, though its in the village now. even the e320 is still been used till date. i dont know about their newer models but my experience with ml320 gear box leaves alot 2 be desired.

My 2005 kia sportage with 2.0l i4 engine has over 330k kms on the odometer and it's still doing fine.
Car was bought brand new in 2008.

If lexus GX470 isn't there, then that list isn't accurate.
Meanwhile 320,000 km is very small about 180k miles. My GX flies at 243k miles

my mk3 jetta is over 300,000km original engine, tranny, alternator and water pump, havent changed timing belt for the last 5yrs of use.

too bad the current generations were built to be lemons, but same can be said of other brands.

like i said before the 90s was the golden decade of vehicle manufacturing

Benz C class can reach above this... I've seen one that was used to travel from Nigeria to kotonue and from there to Ghana and also back to Nigeria. Surprisingly the car didn't have any fault Although it was still new then.

I don't take the list serious because Peugot 406 should be NO 1 on that list

What is your definition of being specific? He is far from it, he said nothing, the thread is about a life time mileage and not single trip, He travelled to Gombe from where exactly? i guess from Nairaland, If we continue to be so less discerning, we won't move forward...

Come to think of it, the 2UZ-FE powers both the 4runner (V8 variant) and GX470. So, my love is covered on the list.
