Carlo Ancelotti has been offered the role of head coach of the Italian national team after the role was declared vacant, according to Sky in Italy. The 58-year old Italian who had be hoping for a return to the English Premier League had for a while now been tipped to take up the vacant position following the sack of Gian Piero Ventura. Ancelotti has not been in a managerial capacity since his sack by Bayern Munich in September following the embarrassing 3-0 defeat to French giants Paris Saint German in the Champions League. The former Chelsea, AC Milan, and Real Madrid manger held talks with Italian Football Federation commissioner Roberto Fabbricini and sub-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta in Rome on Monday night. Italy are currently without a permanent head coach after Ventura’s sack in November following series of poor showings, with Italy failing to qualify for the World Cup billed for Russia. It is understood that the meeting between the Italian Football Federation and Ancelotti lasted an hour-and-a-half with specific issues such as the Backroom staff a major point in the meeting between both parties. It is believed Ancelotti has been offered a two-year contract by the country of his birth, although he is yet to agree to the deal which is likely to be less lucrative than his previous contract at Bayern Munich. Probably an eye in the major league in Europe with a big club is still a preferred option for the Italian tactician, and with the football season coming to an end in weeks to come, a lot can happen that could see him decline the offer. www.dabbsports.com 1 Share
