Since J cole performance in Nigeria, a lot of debate has been going on about the state of Hip-hop in Nigeria. however, I personally do not blame the listeners but rather the rappers and the industry. I feel many rappers are not just good and the big players in the industry do not do enough to support the culture

even if I now have to listen to music from the US and South Africa mostly (since 2013), because I listen to Hip-hop/trap more. there are a few Nigerian hip-hop songs I've been really impressed by and placed on repeat when I heard them.

this is based on my personal taste, so they might impress everyone, but should do for the most if you love Hip-hop.

1.
starting off with MILLI which in my opinion is the most underrated rapper/Hip-hop music maker from Nigeria. his EP titled "Childish" was just too lit and I really enjoyed every song. here is the Soundcloud link https://soundcloud.com/savemilli21/sets/childish my fav song on the EP tho is "Where do babies come from"

here is a video from one of the songs on Childish titled "Work"

2. MI Abaga as we know is the king of Rap in Nigeria and considered by many including myself to be Nigeria's best rapper ever. he dropped a playlist this year and titled it rendezvous. Although I cannot say I like every song on it, there are two songs that stand out for me and that is "Soup ft Cassper Nyovest" and "Kososhi ft Wande Coal"

here is Soup Audio

3. Hotice - Kilofoshi is one song I was excited about when I heard and thought it should have been bigger than what it was. I wanted to follow up with Hotice then but the songs that followed up were just cry

4. Falz is a lot of Nigerians favourite but his most popular songs are not exactly the hip-hop one. however, there is a particular song titled "Chardonnay Music" and this is by far my favourite Falz song ever! The instrumentals, the verses, the features everything was just nice. and when I play the song, people still keep asking about the artist, it seems a lot of people do not know the song. the video was not even uploaded by FalzVEVEO like the other songs that had videos on the same album.

5. Duniya by Classiq is one song I would forever enjoy. although classiq is an ingenious rapper who raps in Hausa, and I did not understand anything he was saying, I just enjoyed the vibe of the song and Ruby who he had on the hook.

here is the video of Duniya

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySfNWqrZzs0

6. Although a cover to Olamide's HIT song, WO!, "Brainee" made the song Hip-hop by changing the instrumentals at the verses to trap drums and rhyming well on the beat, I really enjoyed his version and as a Hip-hop person you probably already guess I liked it more than the original

here is the Soundcloud link
https://soundcloud.com/braineeofficial/brainee-wo

7. Another cover I enjoyed in which this time a Nigerian "Karo" rewrote an entirely new song to "Kevin gates - 2 phones" and titled it Different if you would probably never know it was a cover if you were not told. and his verses were just shocked

here is the youtube link to the audio of "DIfferent"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYlyfzMxtds

9. one song I enjoyed but I really don't expect you to because people always look at me crazy when I play it is "Exzymane - Be great". this is hip-hop at its finest with relatable storytelling verses. I could not help but listen to the song over and over again. its one of the songs from his mixtape realeased this year titles Mixtakes

here is the SoundCloud link to "be Great"
https://soundcloud.com/nwaezuoke-chuka/03-be-great?in=nwaezuoke-chuka/sets/mixtakes-1

10. Black Magic, you know him right? he is quite popular but one particular song of his "Rainbow" is what caught my attention and I like it soooo much. I wish we had more songs like this, life would be more beautiful. another song is "Bastard," the song is just too lit! everything about it is lit, the song is not so recent but I still love it till date

here is the link to the Lyrics video of "Bastard"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIW_cVHoioA

11. finially im ending my list with mexico by Dap the contract. i heard this song as one of the soundtracks for Ndani's Lagos Big Boy series. and instantly loved it, downloaded it and placed on repeat.

link to the audio on youtube...

so this is all can remember for now, if you remember any, i would add it to to the list.

if you know any lit Nigerian hip-hop songs, you can also let us know.
