A commander of the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos, has fired a warning to Nigerians who are in the habit of travelling out with their second-hand phones.

The Commander of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Tunji Disu, has taken to his Twitter page to reveal to Nigerians of the danger of taking their UK-used mobile phones along with them while travelling abroad.

He wrote:-

“YOU MAY GO TO JAIL IF YOU TAKE YOUR “LONDON USED PHONES” (SECOND HAND PHONES) TO UK, US, GERMANY, SOUTH AFRICA, ETC, AS MOST OF THE “LONDON USED PHONES” HAVE BEEN FLAGGED OFF AS #ROBBED, #STOLEN OR BEEN USED FOR #FRAUD.

HE ADDED THAT, “WE CONFIRM RECOVERIES OF SUCH PHONES IN LAGOS. BE WARNED!.”

Why not ban it? It took the intervention of BBC reporters to ban codeine. Sometimes the issues we wail about in Nigeria require very simple solutions yet NAFDAC and federal ministry of health had been disturbing our ears over codeine for months yet could not do anything about it. Your country people are reportedly buying phones stolen in another country and risk jail terms yet the government does not know what to do about it. let us wait for another BBC documentary.

Hes not saying it ok to buy them bt there isn't yet in place rite systems to prevent them from coming into the country so people will definitely buy them innocently and he's letting them know the implications of that. Not all uk used are stolen bt seems alot are
