Identical twin results when a fertilized ovum divides into two....
sometimes the division takes between 3-10 days.
when the division takes as much as 14days or more, conjoin twin results.

Those babies will survive. One will need liver replacement therapy or a transfer of one lobe of the liver into either of them.... This type of conjoin twin as seen above is called Xiphopagus

No it wouldn't. The liver is the only organ that grows back to it's original size when cut. This is one of the less complicated cases of conjoined twins and have had several successful separations.
I'm just getting to know the emboldened for the first time. Thank you.

If this is less complicated compared to others, how they would the liver be shared in the face of surgery?

The human Liver has the ability to regenerate. This should be a start. There is nothing God cannot do.

I wish the government can create a very high standard hospital for all conjoined twins in Nigeria
We don't even need anything much.

We have the experts. The only thing such facility will need is 24 hours electricity because the babies will be placed on by-pass and a well stocked surgical theatre and blood bank.

God bless Greys Anatomy. smiley

The liver will be split between the twins. With time, the liver cells wil regenerate and each half liver will grow back to its original size and function properly.

Nah, they can cut the one liver in two, it will grow to full size as they grow.

The one liver is not a problem, the can cut the liver in two and share for them, as the grow, the liver will grow to its full size again. Liver is the only human organ that can grow back but with time humans should be able to grow their limbs as well.

There is no difficulty here. This is what they call thoracophagus twin. The anatomy of the babies abdomen will first be examined by x-raying the internal organs both shared before surgery. Many nigerian doctor's had performed the surgery successfully. Craniopagus (when the head are joined) is the most dangerous and fatal.

Thank God its their liver and NOT the heart. The liver can regrow itself even when cut into half. They will live and the operation will be successful.

They can be separated easily, the liver regenerates fast... only difficulty might be with the vascular component...
