Do you own a startup and you dream of becoming like the big multinationals you see around? Well, you can learn a lot on how to manage your business skills and see your brand grow in no time as well, though it takes years before you reach the level of the most popular brands in the world.

The blue-chip companies have time-proven business models that have served them well for years, and you can take a bite out of their years of experience. Here are 6 things you can learn from a multinational company, especially if you are a startup or Small and Medium Scale Enterprise(SME).

Be hundred percent customer-oriented

While you believe a product could be the key to solving a lot of problems, it should be ascertained whether your customers really want that product as much as you think they do. Do market research and push the products that generate the most sales.

If you are keen on a new product, make use your marketing is top notch. Customer Focus is the key to multinationals. They don’t delve into uncharted territory unless they are convinced about making the most out of it. You could learn from that. Don’t be a Jack of All Trades, master of none.

Deliver more value than your customers expect

Always go the extra mile to keep your customers. People like to be pampered and as a growing brand, it would speak well to manage customers effectively. Ensure that your quality assurance is top notch, as nothing kills a business faster than defective products. Good customer service is also very important, as it means you are a click, chat, text or call away.

There are so many companies offering the same product and services you do, so the only way you can keep people attracted to your brand is by going the extra mile to please them.

Be patient

Everything good will come. As a startup, there are days you feel like packing it all up and giving up. That’s the entrepreneurial test, which you must show resolve and resilience to overcome. The big corporations and multinationals were once like you, but like a plant in infancy, they carefully nurtured the brand to full maturity before the rewards became visible. Don’t expect profits too easily or quickly. You must learn how to re-invest a big percentage of the income accrued back to the business.

Never burn bridges and build relationships.

The thing that stands business apart from their competitors is trust and integrity. Without these two traits, the business is just a past time. Without trust, deals are closed, sales are not made and referrals can’t be guaranteed. Keep person-to-person connections solid between staff and customers.

Also, ensure you follow up by doing what you promise. As a growing brand, you must make sure that you never burn bridges no matter what the situation is. Your branding, communication and even deliveries must convey personal warmth and courtesy.
