It was reported in January according to Punch Newspapers that despite the challenges facing the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan rail project, the facility would be put to use by January 2019.

The government said it had adopted carefully considered measures to holistically tackle the challenges of obstruction caused by water, gas and sewage pipes, adding that Nigerians would start enjoying the rail line from the first month of next year.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, gave the assurance after the monthly meeting of the Lagos-Ibadan Rail line Project Steering Committee at the Ibadan Railway Yard, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Amaechi was quoted in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Yetunde Sonaike, as saying, “We hope this project will be completed within the lifespan of construction. Nigerians are putting us under immense pressure.

Well, we can gladly say to you that work has started in earnest at the Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project and these are some of the pictures we can gather.

The question is that, Is 2019 feasible for this project? Time will tell

Some people just talk anyhow and criticize needlessly without the intention of making one kobo worth of sense. This is an uncompleted project that is meant to stretch over 100km and you are here talking gibberish. Smh.

daveP:
the pace of the work..... don't jump in front of a hungry tiger please. At this pace, Ibadan peeps should just forget seeing finality in the next 4years....

You are still not making any sense with your oversabi. The contractors said it will be ready by December, we are in early May, and you are misfiring merely based on what the Op is showing (which may not even be detailed enough to depict the true and current stage of the project). Why not wait till their deadline elapses? You just wanted to criticize the project for the sake of it only to end up not making sense.

Good stuff, but I wonder why they always have to give these unrealistic targets; how on earth can this be completed in less than a year?

The difference between Buhari and Jonathan is that during Jonathan's time, billions would have been spent to announce the construction of the rail line while nothing would eventually be done, or they would just give to their PDP people to chop. A classic example is the 2nd Niger bridge that Jonathan used billions to commission. Buhari never spends money on commissioning or celebrating projects. All FG projects are simply commissioned and pictures uploaded on the website of the appropriate MDA. No fanfare like innthr time of Jonathan.
