Leaders think of the big picture while everybody else thinks of what concerns him or her. Leaders think of what concerns everyone. Stop thinking of yourself alone, if you want to develop the leadership life. When you want to take a decision, you look beyond your immediate pain and think of how it affects everybody. That’s the difference between Esau and Jacob. Esau didn’t respect things that mattered in leadership, he thought of himself alone and the immediate.

Selfish people destroy leadership life, only thinking of themselves and what concerns them. Everybody generally will think of what concerns him or her. If you are sent on a business trip by your organisation, most people will likely stay in a very expensive hotel (except the company specifies where to stay or how much); yet you are unlikely to do so if it’s your own money. When in the future you have to spend your own money, that’s how you will waste it. Leaders are more concerned with personal development than with personal enjoyment.

When you have leadership life inside you, it will manifest itself. Most people deprive others from benefiting from their lives, to the point that they deny themselves development. You have never seen any leader of note that lived a selfish life or took a selfish road. If you take a selfish road in life and you become a leader by title, you will be a thief.



PRAYER: Lord, give me a large heart that thinks about others and foresight that sees the bigger picture in Jesus’ name. Amen!
