Nigerians have commended the police for arresting one of their personnel who was accused of extorting a lady in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The suspect, Inspector Charles Omotosho, who is an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), was said to have forcefully collected N5,000 from the victim.

The lady had taken to Twitter to condemn the development, an act which prompted the Police Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) to investigate the incident.

In a news bulletin on Friday through an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Shogunle, the PCRRU disclosed that Omotosho was consequently removed from front-line police duties and taken into custody.

It added that a copy of the officer’s statement of bank account was obtained and the entry of the said transfer was discovered therein in the course of a preliminary investigation.

While some Nigerians have lauded the police for the action taken against the suspect, other narrated their ordeal allegedly in the hands of SARS operatives.

Rubbish!

Na today?

They just want to divert our attention off the "transmission and marching" blunder performed by their boss.

As we have not forgotten the "my oga at the top, www.nscdc.dats all"; we will not forget this .

Nigeria police is fast becoming a fade organization with no structure. i have said it before that the prolong harassment and intimidation would caught up with them very soon.

some days ago some angry youth in edo set fire to about 5 police van and already on their way to attack a police station to set it on fire too before it was urgently resolved by the commissioner of police and the governor there. the truth is not because of what happen that day but because of the already hatred for the police forced.

they should give SARS some kind of uniform with their name and code boldly written. ban them from harassing people randomly and passerby. they are harassing people with slaps and intimidation to confess they are yahoo boy..

assuming out of 100 harassed persons in a day by the same group of these criminal just only 20 are actually yahoo boys. 80 is a huge number and this will ends up degrading the police and makes them unpopular to the public.

also community policing is the answer. everyone should know their police.

I searched for him on Facebook. Turned out he has three Facebook pages.

With the rate at which he opens new profiles, one would think FB now offers money to people with multiple accounts? grin grin grin

But the guy matter get as e be o. Looks like he was a really terrible cop.

Someone was even accusing him of murder.
