Came across some inventions that seems new, but actually were invented some decades ago. Ive made compilation of six of them. They are as follow

1. Dr. John O’Sullivan

Dr. O’Sullivan is credited with the development of a technology that resulted in wireless LAN becoming reliable and faster.
Born in Australia, studied Engineering and passed out at university education at Sydney University. He worked with Netherlands’ Dwingeloo Radio Observatory in 1977. To mention a few!

2. the First Camera

This invention was co-shared between Johann Zahn and Joseph Nicephore Niepce.
The development of camera from the age of a room-size box to what it is currently has taken a lot effort, trial and error. In fact, the quality of cameras keeps improving day after day.
The first portable camera was designed by Johann Zahn in 1685. Not much progress was made in the development for up to approximately 130 years later.
The credit for the invention of the first camera is therefore co-shared between Johann Zahn and Joseph Nicephore Niepce. The photo taken by Nicephore was not permanent. It was taken using a camera he made on his own, on a paper coated with silver chloride. The regions that were not exposed to light on the paper became dark.
Louis Daguerre is given the credits for inventing the first ever practical photography in 1829. It took Daquerre over a decade attempting to come up with an effective method for the photography. All the progress Daquerre made was in partnership with the Nicephore.

The Railroad
The development of railroad is considered one of the most important catalysts of the Industrial Revolution. The railroad has evolved from what it was then to what it is today due to the involvement of many people. To appreciate the benefits the railroad has brought to many people from different parts of the world, it is necessary to acknowledge the person who invented it.
George Stephenson invented the first steam locomotive in Great Britain. He used the knowledge of steam technology to construct the first locomotive. George Stephenson was born on June 9, 1781, near Newcastle, to a father who worked as an engineman in a coal mine. His father’s profession could have possibly had an impact on Stephenson’s successful invention.
The countries that embraced the railroad after Great Britain, such as the United States, experienced a number of social, economic, and political changes. In America, the importation of the Railroad from Britain promoted the development of other infrastructures such as depots, bridges, and roads that connect to the railroads.

The Fire Hydrant

Prior to the invention of fire hydrants, firefighters used brigade buckets or pumped water physically from the source to extinguish the fires. The firefighters would stand in line between the fire and the source of water. They would then pass the buckets of water from one firefighter to the next. The process continued until the fire got extinguished. This turned out to be hectic and tiresome. Besides, it was also very slow, a reason that led to fires consuming more property.
It should be noted that the real inventor of fire hydrants is not known. The patents that were related to the invention of the fire hydrant in Philadelphia were destroyed. There are different stories behind the destruction of the patents. Some people say that they were burnt when the building caught fire. Some people believed that they were lost during a dispute, and finally, some people believe that they were destroyed during a flood. The most popular reason given for the lost patents is the fire that burnt down the building that was housing the patents. Because the records were not clear or known to people, the invention of the fire hydrant is attributed to Frederick Graff.

At around 1801, Mr. Frederick Graff Sr. who was the then Chief Engineer of the Philadelphia Water Works came up the first post or pillar type of fire hydrants. Graff was born in 1775. Before his job at the Philadelphia Water Works, Graff worked as a carpenter. Graff was still in his twenties when he developed the first fire hydrant. He is therefore credited for the invention of fire hydrants.

5. Canned foods

Conventional canning as we know it today began with Nicolas Appert, the original Food in Jars guy. A Parisian confectioner and chef, Nicolas began experimenting with preservation during the late 1700s, and he successfully preserved foodstuffs, such as soups, vegetables, juices, and even dairy, more or less. He believed it was the presence of air that led to spoilage, and many of his early experiments were dedicated to removing that element. He was wrong, but he wasn’t alone in this way of thinking. In the early 1700s, cooked meats were preserved over short periods of time by covering them with a layer of fat, also to protect them from the evils of air, notes Crosby.

But it was Napoleon and the French government that really changed everything. Hoping to find a more effective way to feed his troops, a prize of 12,000 francs was offered to anyone who could devise such a means. Continuing with his experiments, Appert discovered that it was heat (not air) that kept pesky spoilage (caused by microbes, although he didn't know this) at bay. This was even though the official scientific discovery of those microbes in relation to food spoilage came some 50 years later. (Thank you, Pasteur!) But Appert was correct, even if he didn’t know entirely why.
Appert’s process involved placing food inside glass jars, that were then corked, much like wine, and sealed off with a wax seal. The jars were wrapped in canvas and then boiled. He submitted his invention to the French government and was announced the winner in January of 1810.
