At least three people were feared killed, this morning, by security operatives, as residents of Amassoma community, Bayelsa State, resumed their protest against the outcome of the reforms at the state-owned Niger-Delta University, NDU.

The protesters were reportedly angry that their names were removed from the university’s payroll for attaining the compulsory retirement age. .

They alleged that the state government was marginalising the people of Amassoma and denying them their only means of survival created by their late son and former Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. .


They had shut down the school and vowed not to open it until the state government reversed its decision. However, the university’s gate was opened today, prompting another round of protest which led to the killing of at least three.

Here in the North people are not retired, they get tired and decide to retire by themselves as long as the state still gets federal allocation from Niger Delta oil.
Have you seen pensioners protesting in key northern states such as Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano, Sokoto etc, because they have very few retirees, the children of the enlightened ones earn salaries while still in school as local govt staff.

This is why they dont want restructuring, the sack the people from whose land they get the oil to keep them poor and subservient, Ojukwu warned them about this but many of them aligned with Fulani to fight for 'one Naijeriya'.
They foolishly followed Isaac Adaka Boro and Ken Saro Wiwa in 1966 who thought Fulanis are to trusted

This is silly, if you are above working age Retire,simple.Must you work until you are 100 yrs Old!
