BankeSmalls: The poultry farms, fisheries and piggeries in Osun are many and increasing. I'm currently investing in one myself. Sadly, the State Govt just ignored the huge IGR potential of encouraging animal husbandry and fish farming in exclusive favour of all these projects. I live in Osun. The roads and schools are real and there to see, but IGR suffered. There lies the real failure of Aregbe. |

Nigeria commercial banks are evil and demonically greedy capable of frustrating the most promising project if you refuse to sign your destiny away for them. That's the little I can say about it. |

I have kicked against this useless fraud concessioned project in the first place. Ogbeni used it to siphoned the treasury of osun state. his party Apc will surely be judged, rejected and defeated at the upcoming governorship election on September 22. he has failed on this one. alot of many abandoned projects are scattering all over the local government of the state. so so pathetic. |

Omooba77:Scarce resources, but a good idea nonetheless, considering the fact that the concessionaire was paying 100% of the funds, and would recoup their investment within 39 years, then transfer back to the state government permanently. A perfect arrangement with no loss to the Osun State government. From the op, I understand that this is simply a case of the concessionaire backing out, and I wish there were laws that stopped people from reneging on agreements like this. If they knew it wasn't profitable to them, they should have never signed it in the first place. The only problem with the whole issue is how Aregbe bragged about it and raised the people's hopes. But then again, who wouldn't, it seemed like a well thought out plan and he didn't expect it to fail. johnnyvid:See above. |

Brazen theft of Osun state money by 'Ogbeni' Aregbesola. He spent N3.6 billion already on that empty tract of land! Nigerian politicians fear neither God nor man but they will surely account for and pay back every dime they have stolen, before the end of time. |

Airports in Nigeria are built for the personal comfort of the governor, not for their economic viability. These governors do not like traveling to nearby states to board flights, they want the plane to sit literally by their door. This is why they must build airports and the ignorant citizens would always support the initiative eventhough it sucks and wastes their state's lean resources. After building an airport, the next move is to buy a private jet. Case in point: this is exactly what Governor Akpabio did in Akwa Ibom. Calabar airport is only 30 minutes from Uyo, but because Akpabio hated being driven by road to the airport in Calabar, he built an airport and then his idiotic supporters killed anyone who dared to question the economic viability the project. Today, that Uyo airport attracts very few flights weekly - about 3 or 4 planes fly out of Uyo weekly, even right now. After building the airport, Akpabio bought a private jet for his personal use. Today, Akwa Ibom has the worst case of abject poverty in Nigeria, while Akpabio and his minions enjoy an empty airport. Osun people should be thankful that the airport was not built. I say this because the next move would have been the borrowing of billions to buy a private jet by the governor. Osun people should, instead, insists on recoverying monies stolen already for the project. |

AnonyNymous:which scarves resources again, I have been voicing out from the onset that the so called concessioned airport project is a big fraud, if you are following up since last year, you will know that it's a big fraud. the so called AWOL that was awarded the contract was just registered under CAC a month ago before the state government signed the contract with them. everyone knows that it's a big fraud. |

I knew this project is a waste of time and resources. Ibadan andIilorin is not far from many towns in Osun state. Why constructing another airport. The money should have been used for other things in the state. Aregbesola and his advisers made a great mistake about this airport. |

AZeD1: The airports arent profitable because of how fan manages them. I believe the cirrent international airports would fare better under private sector managememt. The cargo airports have it much worse. Akwa ibom for example doesnt even have cargo opperations and I dont know of any international flights at the airport. The potential is stifiled since the didn't plam it out well. Osun airport is just like Anambra airport. The investor is supposed to finance it then transfer it over. Their gimmick is the airport city with mall or something. AnonyNymous: MOU isnt a legally binding contacts so you hsve no means of punishing the other party. 2 Likes |

HtwoOw: Hey...please understand it is never possible to intentionally cut a state's budget. The president doesn't have such powers and if you mention Lagos during Tinubu that was because he created new LGAs which unfortunately are not in the constitution. Aregbesola is a complete scam. Osun still owes over 150b in debt and all we see are "good" school buildings (yet we are 30th in ssce) and yes 300 kilometer of roads...no hospitals, no investment in agriculture, no human capital development, no research funded... You have a right to support whomever you want but no one intentionally cut our allocation. It was all lies to paint PDP black. Remember, PDP could have blocked all the loans he took just like the senate did elrufai recently. |

HtwoOw: So you mean reasonable person will leave ibadan and ilorin to come and board a flight in osun, just like people are leaving Lagos to board flight at ibadan airport. sir, argue intelligently and not as an apc man, i am sure if another party had embarked on this kind of journey, you would have cried to high heavens and given us reasons why it's not just a waste of resources but a fraud. |

Re: Osun N69bn MKO Abiola International Airport: Untold Story Of A Promising Project by PlsBanMe: 6:38pm On May 28, 2018 |
Zenithpeak: Before it is too late, that project should be cancelled and totally forgotten. There is an airport in Lagos which negatively affects the one in Ibadan in terms of patronage. There is another under utilized in Ilorin. Even in developed countries, airports are not located so closely to each other. The Osun airport is destined to fail. No serious investor who understands air transportation business will devote his money for that Osun airport. It will definitely be more under patronised than the Ibadan Airport and no serious airline will conduct business there. Apart from being a (empty) pride to the governor who initiated it and perhaps to the citizens of the state in its first few months of operations, it will be a total nonsense. |
