I believe the girl was probably carrying dirty and smelly panties hence her refusal to submit it to the police officer so that the contents would not be exposed to the glaring eye of the public or in this case, other passengers grin grin

Too much sense wee not kee me sha

The Nigerian society feeds some really toxic mindset to you by default. And myself, like many others were firm drivers of such beliefs. Until we begin to individually question these norms, break free, preach and start challenging them at all fronts, we’ll remain stagnant.

From religion to traditions/customs to education, gender stereotypes... even marriage and social constructs, there’s too much toxic practices and mindsets that needs to be abolished.

The scariest part is that the reaction to the issues we see here is infinitesimal when compared to what happens in reality ... in the average Nigerian mind, educated or otherwise.

Nigeria has a long way to go.
very nicely! put, but these mindsets and believes will never be questioned or challenged in a divided society like nigeria were some supports the abuse of other citizens by the police as long as the abusee is not their family member/members

[quote author=EmagNig post=67838870]The Nigerian Police Force through the Police Public Complaint Rapid Response unit has issued a statement regarding the brutal abuse suffered by a lady in the hands on a Police officer in Delta State.

According to the PPCRRU, investigations have already started into the issue.

Yesterday, a shocking video showing a police officer attacking a young lady who refused to allow him search her bag filled with her panties surfaced online. The police officers had stopped a commercial bus the lady was in and insisted they must search every bag in the bus.

The young lady refused to allow them search one of her bags because it contained her panties. The officer was seen attacking the lady while raining abusive words on her.

The Police Public Complaint Rapid Response unit has now issued a statement saying an investigation has been launched into the matter.

This is a stupid and most insensitive response by the department. How do you differentiate between 'simple' instructions' and 'hard' instructions
