A Nigerian father-of-one has committed suicide in South Africa allegedly because he became broke.

Emeka Okafor, popularly called Oracle, ended his life by consuming battery acid yesterday in Johannesburg. A cup containing the lethal substance was found close to his dead body.

The "big boy" who lived an extravagant life reportedly couldn't live with his present condition, so he took his life. He leaves behind a daughter and fiancée.

Friends have taken to various social media platforms to mourn him.

I mourn you too. Today, I tell you the truth: this guy lives longer than expected. If he was in this country last 2 years, by now it would have been 2 years remembrance. It is possible that since the border is tight for codeine business, the reality of life has cut up with him.

i'm not perfect, but n!!qqa taking your life because of $$$$$$$ ain't worth it, what of me that lost my parents; my mom 1999, when i was barely 7 years , my dad 2002 , 10 years , imagine the hell i pass true, i never think of killing myself because i believe , after darkness comes brightness. i have been broke a s hell buh i'm still striving hard to survive, man forget all this internet stuff, (90% of people that show off are damn broke, the loudest niqqa in dha room is always dah broke st. you own no m*****4kah anything. that's much more we're blind to see.
