This mindset of begging or expecting people to give you money, when you have not provided any services to earn it, stems from what our politicians do. The politicians give out monies like drunken sailors because they didn't work for it. They stole it and thus, can give it out willy-nilly. Sadly, Nigerians of today don't know or refuse to accept that earned money is hard to give out.

Iyanya may appear to have money but in reality, he may be scrapping by. Let's not forget that their records don't earn them much considering people can listen to the songs free on the Internet, and that some of them receive cash gifts from their governors and other government officials in order to buy the expensive car or to have a house in Lekki.

It is time Nigerians stop this mindset of "sharing monies." Monies are earned, and should not be expected as gifts. Politicians must stop giving out our collective wealth to a few of their friends, while the rest of society wallow in abject poverty.

Iyanya does not owe anyone who has not provided a product or service to him. Likewise, our governors should stop giving artists monies because doing so cheats the rest of society off our common wealth.
