Because America (and indeed most of the world), was not ready (and still not ready) to fully accept a public figure with dark skin. He's the most famous of the examples, but many people change their features in other to be better accepted. In spite of his awesome talent, he felt that his nose and skin were holding him back... and in a way it's true... white, latino, asian, Indian, and even black audiences were more willing to associate with the lighter skin Michael. It was better* for advertisements, better for concerts, better for dance lessons, and looked better on album covers - which translated to more sales.

We have it hear too... some girls really believe "ọmọ pupa l'emi fe̩" and go to great lengths to lighten their skin because they think it will make them more popular, better liked, celebrated.

In both cases, it really comes down to the ongoing onslaught against Blackness - color, thought, psychology, etc.

Sadly, once a person goes down the path of "enhancing" their natural bodies, it becomes a downward spiral until you hardly recognize the original person anymore.

For those that don't know what that means, he has cancer of the pancreas that has spread all over the body. Once that happens, nothing can be done.

Even a diagnosis of simple pancreatic cancer carries a poor prognosis.

Michael’s Jackson’s dad has died!

Joe Jackson — the patriarch of the Jackson family — has died, TMZ reports.

The elder Jackson died two days after the ninth anniversary of the demise of his megastar son, Michael, who died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.

Family sources tell the online celebrity and entertainment news outlet that Joe passed away at 3:30 AM on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Joe was hospitalised in June with terminal cancer. His family had been flocking to his bedside since. His wife, Katherine, had been at his bedside as were some of Joe’s children and grandchildren, TMZ reported.

“Joe had been battling health problems for some time now. He was hospitalised back in 2016 after coming down with a high fever. But, he bounced back not long after and was seen partying in Vegas.

“His health was also fragile after a stroke and three heart attacks back in 2015. Doctors implanted a pacemaker,” TMZ noted.

Joe may have been the most successful parent managing his children in the history of music. He, with a little help from Diana Ross, engineered the careers of The Jackson 5, and then Michael and Janet Jackson as solo artists.

The elder Jackson took a lot of heat from Michael and his siblings for abusing parenting and management practices, including physical brutality.

Joe agreed to it but, far from apologising, he said his methods made his kids successful and kept them out of jail.

Michael’s dad stood by him during his molestation trial. After Michael’s death, Joe was criticised for trying to make money off his son’s memory.

Joe had 10 kids with Katherine, his wife of more than 60 years. The two did not live together and had a strained relationship for the last years of his life, but they frequently interacted.

Joe was 89.

That is why he bleached his skin, because he would have looked stranger with blotchy skin.

Option b would have been use dark makeup to hide the blotches, but that wears off when performing

Joe was just a typical 'African' parent but, the western media portrayed him like a monster of some sort. All he did was disciplined his kids which is normal back during their time (Not present day U.S).

Whooping ur kids butt was and,still is one of the most effective way of disciplining children. Even tough juggernaut, Judge Judy and majority of female judges in the U.S agreed to this.
