there's another way though. .and ve been using it even before android came to life. ...
u can download Netqin Mobile Security app from play store ..it has a speedmeter too...buh not at the top like the normal 1... its a transparent type nd u can place anywhere u want on ur screen. ....

Open the app and click the 3dots at top right corner. ...click network manager and u should be able to find ur way from there..
I like pro apps. Netqin Pro is difficult to get

Well, I so much love it, because it lets me know how my network connection is stable and the speed.

I get a new phone, I put it on immediately.

Probably came with an app on your phone. Just go to the App settings to remove it yourself. Or you drag it to the recycle bin on your phone's desktop.
