LOVE IS A GAME
CHAPTER 16

"Do I like her? I don't, I do, I don't know, maybe I just pity her...I can't tell, I shouldn't jump into conclusion"

Davies pondered for hours as he stared at Coco who laid on the bed. He sat on the couch for a while till he felt the need to go closer, he wanted to make sure nothing of any kind would hurt her, he had to be close enough. He went closer and sat gently on the bed, he didn't mean to but Coco was quite sensitive, she opened her eyes the next minute and noticed him.

"Davies, lie on the bed with me"

She beckoned

"Coco I..."
"Please" her plea softened his walls, he gave in and laid beside her, but still tried to observe a little distance between them. They both stayed put for a while, both could hear their heart throb so hard against their chest. It was quiet and awkward for a while until Coco zeroed out the fear and turned to face Davies, she never wanted to be too close, she had thought he was at the edge of the bed, but the moment she turned she laid breathe to breathe with him. Her heart doubled it's beat, her breathe went out of control, she was scared and at the same time she burned with desire, desire to touch his lips. Davies swallowed hard countless times, he could feel the burning desire, his hands were unstable, he had a strong willpower, he had the ability to control his body but now he couldn't explain how this woman steered up every part of him with just a breathe on his lips. His eyes were going dim, he was going to touch her lips but he fought it from within him, no, he shouldn't do that, he would be taking advantage of her weakness. It was an endless struggle, he bit his lips in an attempt to feel pain, perhaps it would bring him back to his senses but it was fire to Coco. She sensed his struggle, she understood because she was fighting the desire too, but she had to admit, she wasn't as strong as he is, her hands reached and touch his lips, it sent shocking waves down his spine, he took a deep breathe and was still strong enough to mutter

"Coco"

She felt his soft side beards with her hands as she soothed and reached for his lips. Finally, the fire went wild, slowly she kissed him, she sucked on his lower lips and bit them a little, it was too hard for him to resist, he gave in and picked her upper lip with his tongue, she was glad for that because it gave her full access to his lower lip, she caressed and tickled till the kiss went from calm to passion and then hunger. Her hands went to his hair, she felt like  tearing his shirt to shreds. His hands trailed down to her waist and pulled her to his chest. She let out a soft moan when he placed feather light kisses on her neck down to her chest. The desire burned until it went out of hand and awakened the past, she shuddered and jerked off him. Still shivering she folded to herself and pleaded as usual.

"Please....stop"

He felt his heart rend to pieces when she sobbed and folded to the other side of the bed.

"Stop..."

She continued.

"Coco...I'm so sorry, I...I shouldn't have..."

He couldn't find the right word, he couldn't touch her either, he was scared of what damage it might do. Then suddenly he got bold, she can't go on like this...she can't continue to cower before her past, it's time she face it!

Damn the consequences! He reached for her and pulled her to himself.

"Stop..."
"Coco! Listen to me, you have to fight this, you have to fight back, you can't let him keep harassing you, you can't let him keep winning this fight, fight back you hear me! Fight back!"

She released his grip and went back to her folded position in tears.

"I can't, he is too strong, he is hitting me, my hands are tied, see he tied my hands already, I can't"

Her eyes were shut, she could see the past afresh again, she was being molested, her mind had succeeded in making her believe she was helpless.

Davies wouldn't give it up. He drew her again and held her to himself

"Yes you can Coco..."

Tears were dropping from his eyes already that his voice became tearful.

"Yes you can! Set yourself free, cut the ropes! The very first day I saw you, I knew you were strong, I knew you were a survivor, prove to me that I wasn't wrong, beat Felix this time, fight for your freedom"

Her breathe went uncontrollably that he feared she might go into shock, her nightgown was soaked with thick sweat, she struggled with painful tears and cried even more.

"I can't... It hurts...I have nobody, he says I have nobody, no one is coming for me, no one will save me"
"No you are wrong, I am coming for you Coco, you have me, I am coming to save you but first, I need you to fight! I can do nothing until you fight Coco, I would never leave you, I swear it. Now fight back!"
"I can't..."
"Shut up and fight Coco!"

Davies interrupted her resistance and pushed her to her limits, she screamed and gave him a hard hit with her elbow, he winced in pain but still tried his best to hold on.

"That's it Coco, hit him! Hit him!"

Her eyes were shut, all she saw was her past before her...now, she wasn't running, she was fighting back. She hit him again and again with all the strength she had. Her elbow landed on his left eye, his cheekbones, his chest and anywhere her fist landed...he persisted till he had no strength left to hold her still. She turned and pushed him to the floor, he landed hard to the ground and bruised his arm against the wall.

He swallowed hard with clenched teeth, quietly he  winced in pain. She knelt on the bed and took a deep breathe.

"I fought him, I won, I am free"

She muttered in a weak tone.

"Yes you did"

Davies was there to reply. She fell to the bed breathlessly.

"I'm free" was the word she kept muttering till she fell asleep. He picked himself up afterwards, he was full of bruises and cuts. He had a black eye now. He took a shower and laid on the couch to find sleep. The pain he felt was immense but it wasn't compared to the Joy he felt, she was finally free and he was glad.

Coco woke up the next day feeling light, she felt a big burden has been lifted off her shoulders. She yawned and stretched out. This was the first night she didn't dream of her past oppressing her, infact she fought and conquered this time.

"What a dream"

She muttered and called for Davies.

"Hey"

Her eyes went wide on his seeing his swollen eyes and bruises.

"Oh no, it wasn't a dream"

She realised and hurried to him.

"Davies I am so sorry, jeez, I am so sorry"
"It's ok, its okay, I have been rude to you so I deserve this huh"

He tried to laugh but the sharp pain that cut across his tummy prevented him.

"Why did you do this?"

She helped him sit on the couch and hurried to get ice and a napkin. She folded the broken bits of ice into the napkin to massaged his cheek and swollen eyes.

"I promised to protect you, i was just trying to fufill my promise"

She didn't see any sense in what he said.

"And get bruised in return, no Davies, that's not it, why did you this? Why did you go to this extreme to help me fight my past? Why would you share in my pain? Why would you go through pain for me? Why would...."
"Because I love you..."

He Interjected and caught her off guard. Her mouth stood agape and she stammered when she asked again.

"Be...cause you wh..what?"
"Because I love you Coco... I can't explain it, I don't know how it happened or when it started or even if it's what I truly feel but I love you, that is the only explanation I can give right now"

LOVE IS A GAME
CHAPTER 17

"What? He said that?"

Stacy was first to exclaim when Coco repeated what Davies had said.

It was another day to chat with the girls and she was glad. Since yester night Davies had been quiet, he felt he had said too much, and Coco on the other hand went mute as well, she neither gave him a reply or shunned him off. This was what she had always wanted, that he falls in love with her so she could get more money and of course dump him afterwards, it is what she had planned out. But now, as she stared at him, she didn't want to do that anymore, Davies had penetrated her walls, she didn't want to break his heart.

"Davies, I think you said that because of how vulnerable I was, like I look pitiful, you helped me out and it's almost certain you might think you are falling for me"

She said before they slept but he remained quiet.

"Davies?" She called, still no response.
"Go girl! Wait how did you do it?"

Valerie spoke out next, she was certain Coco might have done some magical myth to get Davies in her trap.

"how about sharing those magical stuffs with me, I need the money too"

Valerie finished it up and got Coco laughing for a while.

"What? Is it funny?"

She questioned and looked to Stacy who shrugged in response.

"I didnt use anything, I know its weird, I mean its just one week and some days, but the truth is, it's just out of pity, he pities me and thinks he is in love, Davies is not emotionally stable, today he is good, tomorrow he is something else"
"Pities you how" Valerie asked the same question Stacy was about to ask.
"Hi girls" it was Callis passing through

"Hi" both Stacy and Valeria replied in unison. Coco remained silent, she had a smile to the corner of her lips and Callis could see it wasn't a good one.

"Hey Coco, you look beautiful today"

He said next with a smile on his face. Both girls were scared for how Coco might react but she was surprisingly calm and she smiled in return. They were about to ease up when she questioned.

"Is that your problem in life?"

Silence enveloped the scene for a while until Callis raged in response.

"Excuse me? You said what?"
"You heard me"

She fired back and turned to the girls.

"Shall we? we were discussing something important"

Callis stood with tightened fist, there was nothing he could do to Coco, he knew what the repercussion would be, Davies would surely pull a tooth or two from his mouth.

"Excuse us Callis, we wanna talk, girls talk...you are not a girl, are you?"

He found it difficult to move his legs but he had to, he knew if he stood another minute, he would rage at her.

"Ok that's my husband you were talking too, although that was freaking awesome girl! You served him"

Valerie squealed and nudged Coco a little.

"Listen girls, I think I got the key to these guys. Sorry to say but Callis is a sex freak, to get him you have to stop him from getting inside you. You have to prove to him that you can do other things apart from just sex. Right now all you mean to him is sex, let him fall for the real you. As for you Stacy, give Jake space, stop running after him, soon he would begin to wonder, he would miss you"

Both girls sat speechless for a while until Valerie spoke out.

"Jeez Coco, you are the love expert"

***

Davies was troubled, his father, Jonas sounded urgent when he called, it was like he discovered something dangerous that needed to be terminated with immediate effect. And he was right, but he never imagined to would be about Coco.

"You have to send that girl back to Nigeria now, with immediate effect. She is dangerous"

Jonas said the moment they met in his car. Davies found it funny for a while and then got serious before he replied.

"I don't think that would be possible dad"
"Why? You don't love her Davies, and yes I know you tried to fake the marriage. I am only helping you out now, divorce her and send her back to Nigeria immediately, you can get another wife"

Davies saw his father tightened expression now, the man wasn't joking. This was serious.

"Dad that was before, I like the girl now Dad...I like her. Okay give me a reason why"

Jonas was quiet, he knew his son wouldn't understand, and he would never give in until he told the truth.

"Remember Lervante Valdez, the man who was going to ruin my company?"

He asked

"Yes dad I do...he died right? Why are we taking about him and how does he relate to Coco?"

Jonas permitted the tears to fall now.

"How did he die?" He asked next.

Davies was getting confused now

"In a plane crash...Dad where are you heading too?"
"Son, I killed him, I planted an assassin to make the plane crash. The plane crashed as a result of fuel leakage, I was responsible"

Davies eyes went wide, he couldn't believe his father was capable of murder. And it was not one person involved, more than a hundred persons were on that plane

"Dad, Valdez is evil, I get that, but it doesn't mean you have the right to take his life, and for God sake there were other innocent people on that plane, people who had families, do you know how many people you made fatherless? Motherless? Or even an orphan?"

Davies asked, he couldn't believe his ears and he was not ready for what he heard next.

"Yes I know, and Coco is one of the people i made an orphan, because her parents were on that plane"

LOVE IS A GAME
CHAPTER 18

It was like the world went cold for a minute, Davies eyes went wide, his mouth stood agape and though he tried to say something, all he could do was stammer and settled for

"No...it's not possible, you are wrong, it can't be Coco"

Jonas was getting tired of his son being adamant about the issue. This was a big risk, if Coco finds out, it would be hell for him and his family, he loved his sons dearly, he didn't want to put them at risk.

"It's Coco son..."

Davies objected again.

"How do you know this? Huh? How can you come up with something like this? How are you sure it's Coco, you might just he taking her for someone else dad"

He said and felt he made sense, his father shouldn't be jumping into conclusions.

"I know because I did a background check up on the three girls, I wanted to know who my sons got married to, so I paid professionals to look into them. And apart from the fact that she is a victim of the incident..."

Jonas paused and reduced his tone to a whisper before he continued...

"She is dangerous Davies, that girl can kill you, she has handle a gun before, she has killed people, according to my source she was the right hand girl to a notorious criminal back in Lagos, his name was Edward"

Davies was certain he heard that name from Coco countless times.

'Edward taught me all I know, he taught me how to survive in the streets' he remembered she said that during their first encounter.

'Where did you learn to dance like this? In Nigeria all they do is shake the booty'

He remembered when he asked at the dance floor.

'Edward taught me..'

Memories flushed through his mind and he was beginning to see sense to what his father said. But then he remembered Coco's words.

'I might act cool and strong on the outside, but deep down I am a coward, I am scared, I am broken'

No, he wasn't sure of who or what she was capable of, but he was sure of one thing, she is not capable of murder, he can vouch his life on that one.

"No dad, she is not dangerous, I know her"

Jonas held his forehead with his palm, he couldn't believe his son.

"Are you mad Davies? You just met this girl not up to three weeks and you know her already? Ok let's say she won't hurt you, what about your brothers?"

The thought of his brothers filled his heart, he had a change of heart immediately, he wasn't even sure if he loves her, he wouldn't want to put his brothers at risk.

"Ok dad, I would do as you've said, I would send her back on one condition, you would confess your sins to the authorities and get punished"

His father agreed and he started towards his flat. His mind was made up, she has to go, she was dangerous, she could hurt his family, this was the right thing to do.

He was sure he had enough willpower but the moment he stood face to face with her, he melted. She turned to see him staring at her, she noticed he had something to say but he couldn't force the words out.

"Davies? You wanna tell me something?"

She questioned with a shrug.

"I just wanna tell you to...that...that I love you"

It felt weird and before she could utter something else he covered the distance between them and placed his lips on hers. Her kissed her deeply and drew her into his arms.

"I don't want to lose you..."

She had a frown on her face, what was going on?

"Davies are you OK?"

She tapped his back a little when he hugged her.

"I am fine, Its ok"

He broke free and cupped her cheek in his palms.

"Promise me Coco, that no matter what happens, you would never leave me"

She was going to resist but he was persistent until she voiced the words out.

"Ok I promise! You happy now?"

His response was another tight hug and a kiss on her forehead.

***

From that day onward, Davies treated her like a princess, he kissed her at every given opportunity that she got addicted to his lips, sometimes she caught herself staring and longing for his lips, other times she would stylishly request in a low tone.

"Kiss me"

He would grant her wish and satisfy her hunger. She got used to his scent, his arms and his cuddle. She has never experienced such care from anyone before, it was all new to her that it didn't take long to get addicted.

"Do you love me?"

He occasionally asked but she always found a way to dodge the question, she wasn't sure, she didn't want to commit herself to this man, she was certain he wouldn't hurt her, but she didn't trust herself, she was paid to make him fall, what if he finds out? What happens then?

It was the last week already and each of the girls had positive reports to give.

The boys had a meeting to extend their one month deal with an extra one week. It was settled then, just this time, the girls felt guilty that they accepted the deal without a pay.

Coco was so glad the deal was extended, although she didn't want Davies to notice. He took her to their favourite fancy eatery and ordered her favourite dish. He had taken his time to study her likes and dislikes, she was equally amazed. He knew virtually everything about her personal kinky life. Although she made him feel he didn't know her well enough.

They had a nice meal and were just close to the car when she saw someone, someone from her past, someone who made her heart stop for a moment.

"Davies...In the car now!"

She pushed Davies in when he lingered and hid while he drove off in speed.

"Who was that Coco?"

Davies asked when they were metres away from the eatery. Her eyes were wide in fear when she replied.

"Its Edward..."
