Amodu narrowly qualified the eagles for World cup. Kaita foiled d play not Lars. Have you forgot so soon how they played in the game with Argentina

Defiantly BIG YES. The man did not add anything to players, you do not see strategy, and he does not control the match as a big coach. See otto rehhagel, coach of Greece, once stupid kaita tongue undecided got red card he pushed in an attacker, we always saw at least three greek players attacking our goal keeper so if one miss the other would get it, he changed the match completely.
Why he kep out Obafemi Martins, we needed such player who could finish counter attack in the goal
We could have kept the match at least 1/0 if we had systematic organized defense, but the whole team fell apart

the man is absolutely stupid as Kaita

When Lagerback's 5 month contract expires, it should not be renewed. I'm quite sure when the whistle blows after the next match (that is, if we don't defeat Korea), Lagerback will fly straight into Sweden and that's that.

The NFF has just as much power as any big name Nigerian institute, as well as similar characteristics (corruption, greed, 'unpatriotism'), and there is not much any of us, the cyber army, can do about it. When some of Senators are busy marrying 13 yr old Egyptians, who can pressure effectively any change in the NFF. Except there's an internal change in NFF/Sports Ministry, and/or our self, culture of accepting nonsense, or government, it will, after this World Cup, continue as usual with , "Shove it down their throat", and a manager from Moldova abi Belarus will be hired until 2011, then local coach for 2012, and finally a EUROPEAN former 2010 World Cup Group Stage coach will take us to Brasil in 2014, and in 2015 the same routine.

For the fact that many of our untalented players enjoy a sacred cow status on our team (i.e. YAKUBU, Yobo-who is the most uninspiring captain, Kanu, Utaka, etc.) and can be called to go--EVEN INJURED-- to the Nation's Cup, World Cup, Team Camp, smells like corruption, bribery, and secret arrangement.

The fact that we recklessly hired and fired and paid Amodu the lowest salary for a World Cup bound team and a record salary for a Mediocre European, again smells like corruption, bribery, and secret arrangement. I won't be surprised that Lagerback's lineups against our first two opponents was in effect, a way of shortening the tournament for himself, so he can jet back home with loads of Niger Delta generated NAIRA, except he fields a totally different team for the Korea match.
Re: Lagerback's Fate: Should He Be Sacked Too? by reemix123(m): 1:39am On Jun 18, 2010
I have been trying to contain myself but it has been very difficult. Please note the following points.

1. Mr Wayo Oyibo Lars took the job as Nigeria coach and sweet talked Nigerians "slave trade" style all the way to the world cup with words such as "Nigerian team can make it to the Quarter finals"  Which every Nigerian knew was bull given the lousy cup of Nations performance and the struggle to get qulaified for the world cup. Mr Lars got $1.3M for his sweet talk not bad for two months work.

2. Everybody queried Mr Lars on fielding of Kaita see article http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=176028 but once again the sweet talker selected and fielded incompetent and good for nothing players who should be restrained to playing village football.

3. Mr Amodu should not be laughing because he is part of the dead would that we dont need.

4. Greece has never scored a goal at the wold cup in their history yet alone won a game till today. God help Nigeria.

5. Lets not fool ourselves the buck stops with the leader Mr Lars you have some questions to answer and we may need a refund after all if I fly the Swedish airline and the destination is not reached surely they will give me my money back ?

5. This is a national disaster of great magnitude witnessed not only by the world but by 70 shameless senators who have not contributed kobo to Nigerian football but are busy flying private jet to south africa for the world cup wining and dining

What shall we do now.

1. El Presidnto should make this a state of emergency akin to the power problems, clear out the entire office of the Football Federation, Clear our all the players with the exception of the goalkeeper and start with the one good player to build a good team.

2. Lets not waste millions on oyibo "emancipate yourselves from mental slavery" bob marley.

3. All the players including the 70 senators should come home now and save our hotel bills
Re: Lagerback's Fate: Should He Be Sacked Too? by jpworld(m): 2:16am On Jun 18, 2010
Anythings that happens to the team, is the coach responsibility, If keita kicks a player, there must have been sign of this temper during training, which the coach never correct.

A good coach will not accept any working environment, don't forget Murinho rejected Totetham FC after he was sacked by Chelsea, and prefer staying out of contract for almost 1year until the right team with his prefer environment contract him.

Amodu was sacked 2002

Replaced with a baba ibadan eleke -42

What was the outcome?

1 point in 3 games with bunch of chickens.

fast track to 2010

Amodu was demoted (technically sacked)

Replaced with a Komodo turned Human turned Beer brand turned Afin

The result is about to play itself out again just like it did 8 years ago.

SIMILARITIES?

First match was lost by a lone goal (same as 2002)

Second match was lost 1 to 2 (We scored first just like in 2002)

Third match?? Can anyone guess the outcome?? tongue

What is the morale of this post/situation/incident?

Before I start, let me say first and foremost: This is not a support thread for Monsieur Lagerback but let's ask ourselves these questions and answer truthfully

            - Will sacking Lagerback solve our footballing problems?
            - How many times have we seen these cycles play out?
-How many consistently successful footballing nations have the system run by politicians?

We (as Nigerians) need to learn how to think objectively and strategically. The fact that we have repeated this pattern of 'lose and sack the coach' for a quite a while now should tell us all something; THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE COACH!!!. It doesn't matter who we hire, these results will persist as long as we continue to allow criminals to run a football system(if  we can call it that) built on lies.

To excel at competitions, teams need to either have extremely gifted individuals, good team dynamic or both. Unfortunately for us we have neither. The lies of our corrupt officials and our cheating players guarantee that the players that emerge on the big stage are in their prime or past it when they emerge as U-17s.(as an aside Keita is just 24 years old). So instead of the steady development that characterises the careers of players in other regions of the world, our players a few good years and then experience an 'inexplicable' decline in form. Meddling officials pressure the local coaches to have these same players retained in the squad and then blame the coach when it all doesn't work out. They then hire a foreign coach (or technical adviser as in the case of Onigbide in 2002) close to the major tournaments and pass the buck when those guys fail. We're living a lie!

Let us call a spade a spade and not the senior brother of a spoon:We're our own biggest problem. Lagerback has simply taken advantage of a corrupt system run by incompetent miscreants to take one last big payday. If we sack him now he's happy. He has earned his retirement wages. The problem is we will only go ahead to repeat the same cycle with whoever we hire next until the entire football apparatus is overhauled. LAGERBACK IS NOT THE PROBLEM

Until our football is run commercially by serious people who understand the business of football, we're going nowhere.

[b][size=18pt]DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL AT ALL?? WHEN KAITA GOT EXPELLED, LAGERBACK SHIFTED ODEMWINGIE TO REPLACE HIM ON THE WING TO MAKE SURE THAT NIGERIA PLAYED A 4-4-1 (NIGERIA STARTED THE MATCH WITH A 4-4-2 FORMATION WITH KAITA ON THE RIGHT). REHAGGEL, SENSING THAT ONE STRIKER COULDN'T POSE A LOT OF THREAT AS TWO STRIKERS, DECIDED TO TAKE OUT ONE DEFENDER AND PUT IN AN EXTRA STRIKER, CHANGING THERE FORMATION TO AN ATTACKING ONE OF 3-4-3. NOW THAT THERE WERE ONLY THREE DEFENDERS, LAGERBACK DECIDED TO REPLACE ODEMWINGIE IN THE SECOND HALF WITH A WINGER LIKE OBASI TO OCCUPY THE VOID CREATED BY GREECE PLAYING WITH ONLY 3 DEFENDERS. IF LAGERBACK HAD BROUGHT IN MARTINS, WHO HAS BARELY PLAYED ALL SEASON DUE TO BEING PLAGUED BY INJURIES AND WHO IS NOT FULLY FIT, THEN WHEN TAYE TAIWO AND UWA ECHIEJILE LEFT THE PITCH DUE TO HAMSTRING INJURIES, NIGERIA WOULD HAVE BEEN DOWN TO JUST 9 MEN.  THIS SHOWS A MAN WHO IS COMPETENT.

I still cant understand why pple are callin for lagerback to be fired. That dude is not just a good coach, he is the best we ve had since westrhof. He reads games and corrects his mistakes. lars cant straighten up yakubu's foot and make him score neither can he make ogbuke score the sitter he missed. If mouhrino had coached the present squad he ll ve failed woefully too. Most of these players are craps, i really hope they give him a chance to scout and groom a new super-eagles. U doubt that though, THIS IS NAIJA, ITS SAD!!!!

help me ask them ooohhh, the stupidity of KAITA and Yobo sitting on the flour for the second goal has nothing to do with Lagerback. We are realy poor.A coach is as good as the players in front of him.Nigerian players has very bad attitude.

classic example s to why nieria will alway lag behind

fire brigade approach all the way

just sack lagerback and hire an new coach some three and a half years from now a few months before the world cup. eventually we will get there .

Yes the problems are numerous, but the coach tactics was wrong. He lack vision and mission. No plan B- we all see that.
He is defensive minded and does not care about attacking or flare for game.
How could you use Yakubu as a lone striker against Greece? Even at 2-1 down, his tactics was all about defending.
The man should just collect his remaing change and leave us alone, 'cos the damage is already done.
I pray they loose the next match also, na enyeama i just pity, 'cos his work rate was to excellent
Re: Lagerback's Fate: Should He Be Sacked Too? by zylla(m): 7:39am On Jun 18, 2010
hey lets face facts, our problem I sincerely believe is not Lagerback, our problem is the NFF. They're a bunch of thieves with nothing in their heads, round pegs in square holes and when d head's sick, d whole body is sick.
Re: Lagerback's Fate: Should He Be Sacked Too? by smartone1(m): 7:41am On Jun 18, 2010
I WANT TO SAY THAT
1)OUR DEFENDERS EXPOSED OUR GOAL KEEPER
2)OUR MID-FIELDER WERE NOT CO-ORDINATED AT ALL (After ther red card they started to mount pressure on us and imm they score we starts mounting pressure on they its show the quality of our mid-field)
3)AND OUR STRICKER MISSED A GOLDEN CHANCE(rem uefa final inter had just two chances and untilized it when you are down to 10men youdont waste chances at all)

@Davidif

Its quite obvious that you know nothing about football and writing in caps only exposes your ignorance more. How can a weak team like Nigeria winning 1-0 play 4-4-1 and then revert 3-4-3 ? Is the coach mad ? How can a weak team winning 1-0 bring on an attacker ? Do you know what an experieneced coach called Mourinho did when Inter Milan was down to ten men he played 5- 4-0 formation and held Barcelona hostage till the end of the game. This is text book stuff my friend. If Lars was  a good coach he would have put everyone back to play strictly defensive football. His decisions in world cup have been very poor, let's not fool ourselves he is another Oyibo that has come to milk foolish Nigeria earn his fee and go home. Shell have been doing it for years.
He is the coach and so must take the blame irrespective of the time spent he knew the challenges and set his fee accordingly $1.3m for two months is not peanuts. After all before collecting his cheque he declared the Nigeria will reach quarter finals if he couldn't perform he shouldn't have collected the money. So please stop givinh excuses for poor electricity, no water, poor roads, poor governance and poor Oyibo football manager earning $1.3m

the question of firing or not is not relevant because according to his agreement, he has no contract even with nigeria. he was brought in so that we will have a white as coach at the world cup owing to the kind of look amodu has and coupled with the way onigbinde disgraced himself in 2002.
nigeria and nff are jokers. even mourinho will need time to prepare a team talkless of larger. at the end of the day, there is one man whose call is all about nigerian national team. he has been arround and he is hanging arround. he is a very quality coach and he cannot work anyother place outside the super eagles. lager has no business with us so from south africa, amodu is warming up to continue his destruction job on the eagles.
my mind tells me that larger is not even in charge of this selections as he was brought in to cover some shits in the camp.
nff need muttalab's approach so that soccer will once again regain its dignity in nigeria but with the same nff and the amodus arround, thank God win or loss no longer mean anything to me when it comes to our national side.

Did you freaking read my earlier post? geez.

Your analysis was wrong…how could you be playing 441 against greece that lacked depth? And the lone striker is the bulky yak…It seems you don’t watch football regularly. Lone strikers are sharp shooters, they have speed and agility to punish defenders. Rooney, martins, drogba, henry etc are great players that any coach could depend on as lone striker.
How could he still be defending two goals? Even if taiwo and echiejelle were injured, its and avenue to take risk and bring in a striker and use 3 defenders. I’ve seen great coaches in that situation b4. Mourinho did that with Chelsea, infact, he removed a fit defender and brought in a striker and he got the result…
Does he have a plan B? Pls tell me?
And you talk of martin been ravage with injuries…how? How many matches does yakubu played for everton last season, how many goals. As drogba is to any team, so also is martins to Nigeria…half martins is better than yak…striking is about scoring…if you cannot score, then you are not a striker.EOD

The problem is not from Lagerback. I suggest he should not be sacked but retained to train our boiz for subsequent matches.
Let kaita be banned from coming home to nigeria for six months so that he will learn his lessons. next time he wont be mannerless.
