Trump repeats a claim that "you can't see" F-35 fighter even when it's right next to you.

The F-16 pilot totally can't see the F-35. Must be invisible.

In a speech last week before the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, President Donald Trump repeated a point he has frequently made about the wonder of American military technology—that the F-35 Lightning II's "super stealth" technology makes it literally invisible.

Trump said of the F-35:
This is an incredible plane. It's stealth—you can't see it. So when I talk to even people from the other side, they're trying to order our plane. They like the fact that you can't see it. I said, "How would it do in battle with your plane?" They say, "Well we have one problem—we can't see your plane." That's a big problem. Stealth, super stealth. The best in the world. We make the best military equipment in the world. Also, remember this: jobs.

This is not the first time Trump has called the F-35 invisible. For instance, in a visit with Coast Guardsmen in Puerto Rico last November, Trump said the F-35 was “almost like an invisible fighter…You can’t see it. You literally can’t see it. It’s hard to fight a plane you can’t see.”

Technically speaking, the F-35 is a low observable stealth aircraft. As the F-35 program's own website points out , "Stealth is not invisibility. Rather, stealth gives the F-35 the ability to elude or greatly complicate an enemy's ability to find and destroy an aircraft using a combination of design, tactics, and technology."

The design of the aircraft—including its internal weapons bay, geometry, the shape of everything down to its jet intakes and exhaust outlets, and the aircraft's coating—are designed to minimize the radar return of the F-35, especially at a distance. And the foundation of F-35 combat tactics, based on Air Force commentary thus far, is to deliver weapons before sensors can pick the aircraft out from the surrounding radar clutter. But if the enemy is "right next to" an F-35, it's a bad day, as the aircraft's performance in a visual-range dogfight is questionable.

So maybe it's just a turn of a phrase—and maybe Trump meant to say "not invisible."

Then how come they have refused to fly this coffin into Syria to give their liver-eating terrorists air cover since it cannot be detected?

Trump should have flown squadrons of F-35 fighters into Syria to deliver the 105 missiles instead of using cruise missiles from Frigates stationed 1000km away out of fear. Even at that, 97% of those cruise missiles never got to their targets.

What about Israel? Why has Israel chosen to be flying ONLY the F-16 fighters into Syria? Why not the F-35 since it invisible? My suspicion is that they know very well that the Syrian S-200 counter-stealth Radar (which has been upgraded by the Russians) is an all-seeing eye that can detect even a needle in a haystack - not to talk of Mother Russia's S-300, S-350 & the S-400. grin

Now, let us remind Trump - who only has a military grasp of a rabbit how obsolete his F-35 has become, in case he is still being deceived by his perfumed military generals. grin

Quoting from a document released by the Australian Government (Amerikan Ally) in 2015 titled:

THE OBSOLESCENCE OF THE F-35 AS A STRIKE PLATFORM

The pervasive changes in capabilities we are seeing both in the region and globally were not anticipated when the JSF program was defined during the 1990s. Claims by Defence and the prime contractor that the F-35 can be competitive and survivable against such capabilities have no basis in fact, and examination of such claims consistently shows reliance on unvalidated simulations, personal opinion, hearsay and logical fallacies.

The capabilities being deployed by Russia, China and their clients, are not unsophisticated Soviet era designs, built to compete with specific Western systems of that period – including the same Tier 2 Western systems with which the F-35A JSF is required by its JORD vi to be comparable! Russia’s technological strategists during the 1990s defined very specific and well-considered goals for Russia’s post Cold War developments in air power which, as in China, have materialised in spades under the guidance and drive of some of the world’s best new age capitalists.

These included the capability to deny “offboard sensor data” to Western fighters, by denying the use of, or shooting down, Western ISR (Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance) and Electronic Attack platforms. Russia developed very long range Surface to Air and Air to Air Missiles for this purpose, the former including the now operational 400 km range S-300V4/SA-23, and the S-400 Triumf / SA-21vii (See Annex D).

Another key capability the Russians evolved were new short range gun and missile systems, optimised to shoot down Western PGMs (Precision Guided Munitions)viii.

These capabilities are now supplemented by a range of new “Counter-Stealth” long-wave AESA radars, operating in frequency bands outside of those that the F-35’s stealth capability was built to defeat, allowing the F-35 to be tracked at tactically useful rangesix. (Annex E).

APA’s analysis of Russian strategy was summarised in a paper for the US Joint Force Quarterly journal, sponsored by the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Annex A)x.

The specific conclusions of the APA analysis of Russian strategy have since been further validated in public disclosures by Boeing and the US Navy, and Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Congressional Senate Armed Services Committee (Annex B/C).
