Dismissed ExxonMobil Staff Firm in Nigeria was seen protesting seriously in front of the Company’s headquarters in Nigeria.

The staff who were mostly aged men ranging from 55 and above were seen with their red polos dancing with loud musical instruments in what was seen to be a form of a peaceful solidarity protest. Most of them were seen with gloomy faces looking very depressed...







One of the dismissed ExxonMobil Staff who spoke with an Editorial member of Topwritersden with tears in his eyes said

“We were about 860 when we were sacked 18 years ago illegally. We went to court, and the Supreme Court demanded that we get reinstated or our dues fully paid to us. We won the case, but ExxonMobil has totally neglected the Court's judgement. Right now, just 510 of us are still alive, with the others dead; yet no payment from the management of ExxonMobile. This is a slap on the faces of people who worked hard and gave their best to their jobs, yet we ended up like this. It is also a slap on the face of our judiciary”

The question remains “Why is ExxonMobil still owing these dismissed staff their dues 18 years later, despite the Supreme court giving an injunction for them to be paid?”

All efforts to speak to any of the Exxon Mobile management proved abortive as at this time of reporting.







What happens to these people who are still being owed their dues?

These are questions only the management of ExxonMobil can answer.

So for 33 years you worked for a big company like exxonmobil why didn't you invest or save for the rainy day. A month salary in exxonmobil is equal to the yearly salary of most Nigerians. Anyway they would pay, they just need a little push from the government

It's their own faults, when other workers were been martreated and victimised they probarbly were saying "e no consign me" and they tnought that it will never happen to them, All workers are supposed to stick together as a union and stirke together.

But In nigeria the atitude is as long as it's not me i don't care.

These guys have been there for over 3 weeks now, closed all entrance to the company and its apartment adjacent the company, yet no negotiation. This country is lawless and heartless

They are still blocking the gates?

Exxonmobil should pay these workers. They won the case at the Supreme court after more than 10 years.


Since Exxon took over Mobil, they have been misbehaving. Stingy in everything, sack workers at will without much benefits. If Exxon cannot run the organisation successfully, they should back out. It's not by force

If ur president, Buhari refuses to obey court order and feels he is above the law.. Why wont any big player firm lyk exxonmobil disrespect, disobey and disregard the Supreme court.

Our political class are making this country worse off. They can do and almost get away with anytin xcept when they re using the law to get at themselves for political gains

They are barking up the wrong tree. Just a court order that the equivalent sum demanded be moved from EM's account to a collective account for them and case dismissed. Guess their lawyers are not giving them the right advice (I hope not bought off).

They should commence garnishee action asap. No need for this since there's a court judgement in their favour already

So what is really happening?

Exxon Mobil has deteriorated significantly these past few years. Striking every other month. It's either fighting staff or contractor.... going in and out of court.

Seems they don't really care about their brand and dignity anymore. They are not the only ones in the industry. Chevron, Total, Agip and Shell do staff seperation without noise. Something must be wrong with their management

Things like this happen because Nigeria as a nation has no law.

It only exists on paper.

A more serious lesson is, when you land this so called juicy jobs, make sure you start planning from day one on what to fall back on in case you get laid off, which could happen at any time.

18 years ago, I'm sure most of these guys protesting now were celebrating life on the streets of cities in choice personal or official cars.

Things change. Time changes.
