The family of Iposu chieftaincy in Epe Local Council of Lagos State has decried persistent threat from alleged land grabbers . This was contained in a statement issued and jointly signed by the head of the Iposu family, Prof. Talabi Sulaimon Owolabi and the secretary , Chief Alade Oladunjoye .
Talabi said that the Akesan land is approximately bounded by the Epe Lagoon , Santos family land , Lupotoro Family land , Odofin compound, Jubulu Family land and Temu River , and which is approximately delimited in survey plan No : LSP 16 prepared by licensed Surveyor Alhaji L. L Ali in 1972.
Furthermore, the ownership of this large tract of land has been confirmed by several High Court and Supreme Court judgments between 1927 and 2001.
“ As beneficiary owners of the land, the family has standing agreement dated as far back as 1971 with the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture for the purpose of agricultural development in Lagos State .
It also has a long - term lease agreement with Julius Berger Nigeria Ltd . and has a joint venture with Epe Health Farm and SPA limited . ”
The family head said that in spite of the foregoing , certain individuals have constituted themselves into a nuisance by illegally encroaching on the land without authorization from the family.
According to him , a couple of them are the Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamoru Animashaun and one Chief Lanre Rasak . However , the Oloja denied the allegation , saying that he never sold any portion of the Iposu Family land , but only collected royalty from buyers.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State governor , Akinwunmi Ambode , recently signed a law outlawing land grabbing activities and extortion of money from land developers in the state.
