YouTube has finally joined other big apps like Twitter to roll out dark mode for all it’s users worldwide. Although it is coming quite late but there’s a popular saying that goes “better late than never.” YouTube dark mode feature first came out for desktop, then the feature was added for YouTube iOS version then after that we saw nothing ! Months later, suddenly the dark mode feature we’ve all been waiting for has been added to Android.



This feature can really help you save battery when using the YouTube app especially if your phone uses OLED/AMOLED display as the dark pixels will be completely turned off. Now that YouTube app finally has a dark mode, we really hope all other major apps like Facebook etc will begin to have Dark Modes as this is really cool to the eyes. Windows 10 has a dark mode, beta version macOS Mojave also has a dark mode, It’s time for Android to get a dark mode option as well.



How to turn ON the dark mode for YouTube

1. Update your app to the latest version.

2. Launch the YouTube app.

3. Tap the profile icon.

4. Go to settings.

5. Navigate to “General” in the settings option.

6. Enable YouTube Dark Theme.

NOTE: The feature is now live in Nigeria and I am using it. It is working perfectly !

I think you should restart your phone. It should come up. Here's my screenshot. Look at the dark mode I activated.

I don't like updating apps, reasons being a week later another update notification will still pop-up again...? like seriously?
