The Dangote Group has been reported to have sacked almost 300 employees; one of whom is a Director.



Another poor development that is making flames along Idiroko Road, Ota of Ogun state is the closed-down factory of the De-United Foods Industries Plc - the factory that produces the Indomie brand of noodles.

Last year in March, the 'Ltd' turned 'Plc' retrenched about 300 employees which accounted for about 90% of the company's workforce with the flimsy excuse of Global Economic Meltdown. It was also gathered authoritatively, that the new production manager, Mr. James Itiba sacked 16 employees in the early 2010. On the verge again, the Indomie management has sent a note of 'prepare-thy-home' to the employees, signaling that more than 200 employees would lose their jobs in DUFIL. Following the March retrenchment last year, Indomie built three new plants, a result of 'economic booming' which debunks the claim of 'economic meltdown'. This is an insolent contradiction of the labour law which stipulates that a company may not lay-off in a period less than 5 years after a previous similar exercise.

Reacting to this development, employees of the De United Foods Industries, Idomie have taken off the gate of the company, raising placards to communicate their aversion to this frequent ugly come-ups by the management.
