A Air Niugini carrier that overshot a runway in Micronesia has crashed in the ocean around 9.30am Friday local time.

The plane was scheduled to take off at 9.55am from the airport on Weno island in Chuuk state headed for Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.

The PNG Accident Investigation Commission is preparing a team to travel to the site of the accident. A video posted to by Eriko Rekis’ Facebook page shows dozens of people on small boats surrounding the aircraft.

It is not known whether there are any injuries, or how many people were on board. There were 36 passengers and 11 crew members on board who are rescued by locals.

hmmm! i hate seeing stories like this close to end of the months .. it frightening the hell outta my life

if na naija this one happen now everybody for that plane don die be that o because APC will first blame the government of GEJ first then FFK and Reno will now tweet about how Buhari masterminded the accident because all the passengers are southerners and easterners. later the the senate will now set a up a five-man committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the accident while the presidency will summon the minister for aviation to explain what happened. in the end, by this time next year, the federal government will award a contract of N5bn to remove the plane from the ocean......of course midway into the contract the contractor will abandon the project blaming it on non-release of funds from the office of the account general naija is full of comedies

Buhari will soon go and buy this one then refurbish it and write Nigerian air on it and afonjas will start boarding, Buhari has finished this country and he will suffer for it dead or alive
