m.momentum: I'm not a fan of autotune but IMO a song can be good even with autotune on it, and elaborate lyrics do not necessarily make for a better song. Many of the greatest songs ever have been very simple. |

How can you downplay the importance of lyrics in a song? Okay, they don't have to be complex, but at least, they should make at least small sense. Songs don't have to make sense. They just have to sound good. People buy foreign music from cultures with languages they don't even understand. Fela has oyinbo fans, so does sunny ade etc. Of what use are his lyrics to them? Music transcends all these superficial biases IMO. If u don't like it ignore it. I never heard of a song everyone liked, regardless of how "'sensible" the lyrics are. |
