Day one of table tennis event


No upset yet as the Men's Singles Round of 16 starts today.

The leading names,the defending Champion and other notables players will be in contention today for a place in the quarter final of the Men's Singles .

Lagos's Adeyinka Hammed ,who is the defending Champion at the National Sport festival will have Oladele Kehinde from Ogun state to defeat for a place in the quarterfinals.

The light skinned Hammed defeated Mojeed Olayiwola to win Gold at Eko2012 .

Nigeria number two player and Akwa Ibom representative , Segun Toriola , who survived a scarce in the round of 32 againts Mustapha Bello of Bayelsa will have a tougher opponent in David Faleye of Lagos state .

David Faleye , a soldier , is the reigning Asoju Oba Champion and have played in the final of same competition three times .

Another thrilling encounter would be between Azeez Solanke of FCT and Fagbamila Wale of Ondo State , the former who represented Nigeria at the Youth Olympics in Argentina is gradually become a household name in Nigeria .

Timothy Olatunji of Ogun state will slug it out with National Junior , player Mati Taiwo of Ondo .

Mati Taiwo was described as the future " Aruna Quadri " by an International magazine .

Orimolade Siraju of FCT will be challenging 2016 Asoju Oba Champion , Rilwan Akanbi of Delta state

Rilwan Akanbi is a ping ponger that can cause upset .

The oldest ping ponger at the festival , Taofik Maya of Oyo state will face Eko 2012 bronze medalist , Ganiyu Ashimiyu of Bayelsa .

Komolafe Peters of Sokoto will play Samson Samuel of Bayelsa while Etim Orok of Cross River will battle Oyeniyi Lateef of Osun state .
