The sand castles we built
Small as the mould of our tiny foot
Large as the size in our head
So we lived in it
I even had a garden and a garage- attached

The fancy cars we drove
The ones we drove with our mouth
With speed so fast but never a head-on collision
We drove from anywhere to Lagos
I even drove to London one time

The friends we made
We made them genuinely
We care not if your father was Dangote or mr Ojo
We fought and reconciled without a third-party
We forgave without an apology

The fun we had was cheap
We didn't try so hard to laugh
We laughed out loud literally
Because almost everything was funny
We had a thousand laugh a thousand nights

The tears we shared was real
We cried the thought we felt
We could cry because we saw you cry
Not by any means mechanical
Nor by any artificial

The dreams we had
Some came through, some stayed stale
We still wish we could do it again
To do another childhood is a dream stayed stale
Adulthood is the barrier to childhood

Brings back memories indeed. Lovely write up. Quite emotional too. I sometimes wish I could become a child again, no worries, no offences, but like your last line said...

Great

Thanks Mona, glad u like it.
I believe the worst thing that can happen to a person is a stolen or deprived childhood, it cannot be retrieved.
