I prefer wallpapers to paint for the simple fact that any stained or damaged portion(s) can easily be removed and replaced without much hassles. I used wallpapers in my first flat. For my new house, I went for wallcloth. With wallcloth, a stained portion can be cleaned without necessarily having to remove or replace the entire portion.
