Lionel Messi is set to make a much anticipated return to the international stage next month, it has been reported.

The Barcelona forward, 31, hasn't represented Argentina for nine months. Messi's last game for his country came in the 4-3 defeat to France in the round of 16 stage at the World Cup.

Argentina scraped through their group with just one win before being humbled by the eventual winners.

It was a dismal tournament for Messi and co. The five-time Ballon d'Or hasn't featured for Argentina since, missing six games.

But according to Goal , the forward is now ready to return to action. Messi will make his comeback when Argentina take on Venezuela on March 22.
