KOTA KINABALU: A 33-year-old woman was sentenced by the magistrate’s court to a year’s jail and fined RM100 or a week’s jail for cheating. Aznie Nafsin pleaded guilty to offering a non-existent investment worth RM400 to a man near a public toilet in Sembulan here about 11am on Jan 5. He was promised near a public toilet in Sembulan here, The man lodged police report when he failed to contact the woman. Meanwhile, at the same court, Mohd Isa Pailan, 32, was fined RM1,600 or two month‘s’ jail for possessing five receipts for lottery without having a licence at 6pm on Nov 12 last year. He pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953. Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted both cases. |
