The academic staff Union of Universities, Federal University, Otuoke, has thrown its weight behind the demotion of seven professors of the institution via the Senator Gbemisola Saraki-led governing council.

The ASUU-FUO, in a communiqué signed by the Chairman, Dr. Joseph Omoro and the Secretary, Dr. John Kalama, launched after its emergency meeting at the institution stated the downgrade of the affected professors followed the extant rules governing the university.

The ASUU-FUO posited that the governing council verified the case of the seven professors, took a decision at its 10th meeting and announced that based on lack of requisite scholarship, the seven were reclassified.
