The management of University of Calabar, Calabar has surprisingly increased the price for the hostel bed spaces of students from #6,850 to #16,500.
The increment is really alarming as the students are yet to resume following the recently suspended ASUU strike.

One very corrupt Federal University! I dont know why students keep wasting their parents hard earned fees to school there.

Probably University of Port Harcourt and University of Benin had influenced their decision. Unical must have carry out survey to find out that they charge less hostel fee than other universities in the south south. The timing is wrong because i see no justification for the increment except there were repairs and maintenance.Let's face it, that hostel fee is cheap. It is long overdue for increase but increment should go with improvement. Many students might not complain if their hostels are taking good shape hence the need for increment of hostel fee. The SUG should dialogue with university management to reduce it.
