Delayed Puberty in sickle cell disorder is when signs of puberty fail to appear by age of 13 years in girls and 14 years in boys. It can also be defined as failure to complete the stages of pubertal maturation within 5 years from onset of puberty. Delayed pubertal maturation is a common occurrence in children with sickle cell disorder (SCD). There is a delayed pubertal development of a normal of 2 years in children with SCD when compared to children of similar age without SCD. 1 Share
