Suya, Smoked fowl, Snail, Prawns, Crab and duck imprisoned in pepper. Fried yam Aya mase (an ijebu stew) Pounded yam with efo riro, etc I love Nigerian food and never eat at home when I'm in Nigeria. I always go to bukas no matter how much food poisoning I get. I used to hate beans but got converted when my Ghanian friend cooked it for me once. It was finger licking good. Damn. She used a whole 2l bottle of palm oil though, so it is definitely not an healthy option. |

My mum used to bring suya, snails, etc from Nigeria whenever she came over. She even got arrested once in Lagos for crossing the road in Onipan, Palmgrove, instead of using the foot bridge, when she went to buy smoked fowl and duck entrenched in pepper for me. Luckily, she had enough money to bail herself and her friends out otherwise they would have had to hold their ears in their hand whilst stooping up and down. Once she came and was narrating how a woman had been detained at Heathrow airport for carrying meat, and was shocked and called me omo pau, when I told her I knew that it was illegal to bring meat product into UK and did not tell her. Anyway, I told her to calm down as it's not a big deal, as she would only spend six months in Holloway prison if caught. Now she would not even bring one grain of foodstuff for me anymore. |

Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by bebe6(f): 12:11am On Mar 07, 2006 |
If I still ate pork, it would be on with the chitlins and tripe So, now you have to choose something else since I don't eat the swine anymore *bats eyes* |
Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by mochafella(m): 12:15am On Mar 07, 2006 |
well shaki and round-about don't have to be pork, they can be from cows, so you can eat those. Or try some 404 (dog meat), never had it myself. |
Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by bebe6(f): 12:18am On Mar 07, 2006 |

Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by mochafella(m): 12:23am On Mar 07, 2006 |
b_e_b_e: yep, amala well you need meat to put in the egusi . Or you can try panla (stock fish), tilapia or cat fish |
Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by bebe6(f): 12:26am On Mar 07, 2006 |
Hmm, I don't eat cat fish anymore and I don't care for tilapia so I guess I could try the panla like I knew meat went in the egusi soup *rolls eyes* Thanks for the correct spelling Now cook I say---Cook! |

Re: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by bigbumper(f): 11:43pm On Mar 15, 2006 |
How can peeps say they don't like beans!!! What about the good old EWA AGANYIN with piping hot agege bread? Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhh, I miss Nigeria. I LOVE NIGERIAN FOOD. Once my dad was asked why he didn't send us to boardiing school for our secondary education and his response? The first one is too much into fashion and make-up and it would be hard to keep an eye on her already slipping grades and as for the second (me), I don't want to be arrested for manslaughter, because she will definitely die of hunger and malnutrition. |

I hate the odor of goat meat when it is cooking. @b_e_b_e "goat bar-b-que'd--it's divine" i'll try it this weekend. My wife like's goat meat so it looks like she will do the bar-b-que, Thanks for the tip!! I stated Ughelli for the live maggot's, this actually should read Sapalle (Nearly 3 years ago since I was in that area). |
