Two years after the Federal university of Technology Owerri, FUTO ICT building was engulfs by fire, the building is yet to be completed. The result of the delay of the building can be trace back as many students are of the opinion that the 12,500 naira that was to be paid as surcharge, the vice Counselor Professor Eze of the institution used in purchasing a Padro bulletproof vehicle worth 36million naira a month after the payment was made. The building is yet to be completed after two years.

What is happening to schools in Igboland?

The other day, those ones turned UNN to a latrine, then the ones in Absu turned SUG election into a chieftaincy title for only Ngwa people. Now, the VC of Futo is buying Toyota like someone that wants to start Uber business.

Look at the building sef, looks like an abandoned shrine.

They should just shut down the school and use it for shopping plaza.

I hope you are aware that's a federal institution.

The same VC who will point accusing finger at the Federal Government of not providing funds for education. Corruption is deep rooted in all of us.

My own question is why do Nigerian universities build crappy structures without any architectural or artistic finesse?

What are their architectural departments doing for fkc sake?

V.C can't buy car in peace again. It's his salary, he can do whatever he wants to do with it.

I miss the good old days of Prof. Onwuliri (God bless his soul) and the doggedness of Prof Asiabaka. These guys pulled their weight in making FUTO a sane institution.

These days, it's one sad news to another.

If students are certain that the VC misappropriated the funds, what is stopping them from getting EFCC/ICPC involved? There is even social media willing to direct attention to him.

To be fair, they may not have received the full budget for the project.

Also, the VC may have gotten payouts on a project he may have undertaken a while back.

I don't know him but it's unfair to tag him if you don't have the details.

Good question.

They would have Town planners with PhDs, Quantity surveyors, architects, building tech specialists yet they would be building uninspiring structures.

Nothing unique, not a cost saver, inefficient from cost of building to energy consumption.

Aesthetics are not even considered.

Let me guess, na government fault.
