AZIKIWE Road not Ikwerre road. Amaechi redesigned the road to accommodate monorail but it has always been good all the way through Station road, Moscow road to Aggrey road

Interns at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (Formerly Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital) decided to take the streets of Portharcourt in protest of seven months unpaid salary.

They were seen dressed in their ward coats carrying placards with varying inscriptions all calling on the Rivers State Government to quickly come to their aid and pay them their salaries that has accumulated to seven months.

The Protesters that included House officers, Pharmacists, and Medical Lab scientists have worked for seven months and have not been paid a dime, and knowing that internship is a one year programme, they have just 5 months to go.

Some of the protesters were bitter that they have been taking transport to work on borrowed funds, others find it difficult to feed while others don't even have funds to rent an accommodation and have to squat with friends under embarrassing conditions.

This is a call to the Governor Wike Led Rivers State Government to come to the aid of these young health workers and ensure they receive their alerts so that with a sound mind, they can take care of their patients.

WE HAVE MISMANAGED OUR FINANCIAL SAVINGS IN NIGERIA AND NOW IT IS BITTER PAY BACK TIME.

But a state like Rivers state should not be too poor to pay intern.

Some of them are even covering their faces with the placard, scared of speaking up against what is killing them.

I'm ashamed of youths in this country. Just look at what most of them are typing up there. People can't call a spade a spade cos of party affiliations. Wike is a failed governor. For the past one week, cultism related violence and killings in rivers state has been unprecedented. Well, rivers people should enjoy their choice. It's democracy.

oh my God!
This is very sad.

The truth is that if these ones write professional exams and find themselves abroad, no body should blame them.

We can't just keep re-enforcing failure.

The way our doctors and other health workers are migrating to countries where they are appreciated more is a sign that in the next 10 years, there may be less than 300 practicing doctors in Nigeria.

How much will it cost the government to pay them ?

Chai! I weep for my soon to be former country.

I am pained.

More will replace them. Our schools churn out thousands every academic year
