Hello Everyone,
This thread is borne out of my honest and earnest quest to stop gambling for the last time(yeah I've relapsed on several occasion), but this period, it's a total battle declared and i must become victorious. This thread will serve a dual purpose of keeping me in check while enlightening anyone who cares to read on the dangers one could be putting him/herself in by engaging in any form of betting; be it online or offline. This is More like an awareness campaign, which is the reason I opened it on the family section.

There are several online forums(mostly foreign)strictly for gambling addiction recovery where I could have gone, since I would see like minds to share my daily experience and the roadmap to recovery, but no place like Nairaland(lol)

I believe most parents visit the family section on NL. It's important that you occasionally checkmate your child to ensure that this disease(yes! it's a serious mental disorder)doesn't visit your family as it's becoming rampant in the present day Nigeria where the quest for quick money( irrespective of the means and consequencies) is the order of the day.
I will not bore you, at this stage, with my story into the world of non_stop_247 betting binge but eventually, everything will be put out here.

If you're already addicted and you desire to stop, it's either now or never. Follow me on this Journey of One step at a time.
Cheers.

So today is the 5th day of me being gambling free. Wow! Thanks to God. I've been doing serious research online as regards this mental disorder and I've read alot of stories and testimonies and one thing I've come to realize is that, problem gambling strives in secrecy. I.e You're probably going to keep on as long as no one knows about it.

#Onedayatatime.
I feel stronger and thankful today.

Some of us gamble, but we do so responsibly, with discipline. We know when to hold out. We know how much we can afford to lose when we gamble, and we do so accordingly.

Don't demonize betting for us. If you don't have discipline and self control, them stop gambling, and personalize it. There s nothing like secrecy with my gambling. Everyone following me on social media know I do. It's not a sickness. If you have to hide to do it, then you shouldn't be doing it.

Day 6.
Up and running. Been reading Mj DeMarco's "Millionaire fast lane" Much knowledge is hidden in this book and I must say, it's such an eye opener.

There is nothing like responsible gambling! The fact that you are not addicted today doesn't mean you won't get addicted tomorrow. It is like saying responsible porn. Is that phrase possible?

Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD O simple one:

Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; But the one who gathers by labor increases it over time.--proverbs 13:11

Greedy people try to get rich quick but don't realize they're headed for poverty.--proverbs 28:22

Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.--Job 22:21

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the LORD of hosts.--Haggai 2:8

The ear that listens to the reproves of life abides among the wise!!!

Day 10...still going strong.

The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.--1 Timothy 6:10

It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].--Galatians 5:1

How can a young man keep his behavior pure?
By guarding it in accordance with your word.--psalm119:9

Now come into the knowledge of Christ Jesus and find pleasure in HIS ways then all will be well with you.

1. Responsible betting is not a get rich quick scheme.

2. Wealth gotten from vanity, but quick rich schemes.

3. Cast the first stone

4. Judge, and be judged

5. Life itself is a gamble with death.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.(poverty)--proverbs 14:12

My Sons, listen when your father corrects you. Pay attention and learn good judgment,--Proverbs 4:1

Because the command is a lamp and the Law a light, rebukes that discipline are a way of life—proverbs 6:23

Oga look inwards and apply your messages to yourself.

I know right and wrong.
