The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says the average price of some selected food items in the country decreased in March.

The bureau disclosed this in its “Selected Food Price Watch’’ (March 2019) report released in Abuja.

Selected food price watch data for March 2019 reflected that the average price of 1 dozen of Agric eggs medium size decreased year-on-year by -12.80% and month-on-month by -0.96% to N459.80 in March 2019 from N464.26 in February 2019 while the average price of piece of Agric eggs medium size(price of one) increased year-on-year by 1.73% and decreased month-on-month by -0.74% to N41.91 in March 2019 from N42.23 in February 2019.

The bureau said the average price of 1kg of tomato decreased year-on-year by -10.03% and month-on-month by -6.32% to N240.29 in March 2019 from N256.50 in February 2018.

According to the report, the average price of 1kg of rice (imported high quality sold loose) decreased year-on-year by -0.39% and decreased month-on-month by -0.68% to N361.90 in March 2019 from N364.38 in February 2019.

Similarly, the average price of 1kg of yam tuber decreased year-on-year by -21.07% and month-on-month by -2.71% to N200.88 in March 2019 from N206.48 in February 2019.

which one is year on year, -21.07%, month on month, day on day, N256, 20%?
bag of rice is still more or less 15k, just dey use financial stats jargons to confuse person..It hardly reflects the reality in the market
Only tomatoes has reduced significantly, and i believe it happens about this time every yearyear on year

Yes, tomato is very cheap now. That about the only thing that reduced in price. Other commodities are sky rocketing

Rice and tomatoes are cheaper than they were a year ago.

As for yam, not something I regularly buy, so cant say.

I don't know why some people argue for the sake of argument.

The name of the body dropping the report clearly says "statistics" so what concerns a Statician with "time of the season" or politics ; this is a report they are paid to bring out periodically come rain or shine. Stop being ignorant and politicising everything.
